Wow, what a weekend! I’m just getting back into the swing of things after the Catholic Identity Conference. (Image above is from last year’s event.) As those of you who were there can attest, it was spectacular – from the liturgies, to the interaction with likeminded individuals, and even the food – I personally enjoyed every minute.
As for my fellow speakers, I cannot say enough about the quality of the presentations. As I mentioned in my own talk, the lineup – the present writer being the least of them – included some of the strongest voices speaking out in the Church today in defense of Catholic tradition.
On this note, if you didn’t make it to the conference (or even if you did) Audio CD’s of each of the talks can be ordered online; they’re very inexpensive and I can tell you that not a one of them will disappoint.
The name of my talk was The Mission of the Church vis–à–vis the Kingship of Christ as Illuminated by Pius XI in Quas Primas. (As such, I won the award for lengthiest title.)
My presentation (roughly 55 minutes in length) concerned the above topic as viewed through the lens of Matthew 28:16-20. Following is a two minute excerpt:
How refreshing to hear the truth spoken as if it really is true. I mean, mostly we hear “Catholics believe…” Or “the Church teaches…” But Jesus Christ IS King and we need never qualify that. Hearing truth spoken right out like this is energizing and emboldens us to do the same.
That’s the truth. Sadly, it sounds very strange as most of us do not hear this from our priests, bishops – and now the pope.
Dear Louie,
Events like this conference, keep the pure water flowing from the right side of the Temple-despite God’s enemies’ best efforts to pollute it.
I echo the sentiments of the commentators who are so grateful to Catholics who are of voice for TRUE Catholicism in a world gone awry. We can no longer look to the “catholic” hierarchy (esp. the Pope) to be an instrument of solid Catholic teaching and dogma. It is a sad state of affairs when bewildered Catholics must look to the laity for support and encouragement. We must pray for these brave souls and our priests who have not abandoned the TLM . On this note, please pray for FATHER MICHAEL RODRIGUEZ. Information is circulating that he has been removed from his current parish and is expecting tough times ahead.
OUR LADY, HELP OF CHRISTIANS, PRAY FOR US!!
Dear my2cents
All we’ve read and heard of Fr. Michael Rodriquez makes him deserving of our admiration and much prayer. -like.these excerpts from his 10-point plan for U.S. Bishops:
“The Son of God..took flesh from the Immaculate Virgin Mary, in order to die on the cross, vanquish sin, and witness to the truth. Only the truth safeguarded in the “womb” of the Catholic Church can set us free.” ” Our bishops must tread in the hallowed footsteps of the Apostles, cast aside false notions of “religious liberty,” and proclaim the truth with valor”
___
(1) “Pray to St. John Fisher-beg for the grace to imitate his-example.”
(2) “Munus docendi.” “Teach the truth.”
(3) “Lie prostrate” at the feet of Christus Rex.” Quas Primas: “When once men recognize, both in private and in public life, that Christ is King, society will at last receive the great blessings of real liberty, well-ordered discipline, peace and harmony” .“Oh, what happiness would be Ours if all men, individuals, families and nations, would but let themselves be governed by Christ!”
(4)”Apply- the truths of the Catholic religion, outside of which there is no salvation, to “Catholic” politicians… issue the necessary excommunication..”.
(5)”Munus regendi: correct and discipline the lay faithful who are obstinate in supporting such)politicians.”
(6)”Teach what the Roman Catholic Church teaches. No excuses, no exceptions, abundant joy, overflowing charity!”
(7)”It is morally irresponsible to neglect the formation, encouragement, and support of true Catholic statesmen;demanding the faithful vote–settling for “the lesser of two evils.”
(8)”Restore Catholic Marriage and the Family..study Casti Connubii (1930)..chastity before and within marriage.Models: St. Joseph, Virgin Mary, the Divine child..
(9)” Prayer: -“Take the armor of God”, “We are in the midst of an epic spiritual battle, and truth be told, we are currently getting whipped. Please, lead the priests and faithful of your dioceses..in Holy Hours before the Blessed Sacrament, and recitation of the Holy Rosary. Sancta Dei Genetrix, ora pro nobis.
(10) “Most important for last”: “Bishops must exercise their munus sanctificandi (office of sanctifying) and work tirelessly to restore the Mass of All Ages.
“If the majority of Catholics no longer believe as the Church believes,- this is a consequence of Catholics no longer worshipping God as the Church has always worshipped God… As the glorious Roman Rite spreads its divine beauty and aroma throughout U.S. dioceses, the true lex orandi is sure to restore the true lex credendi… (the Church believes as she prays)”. “Fr. Philip Wolfe, FSSP,(2003)said: “What we do in the Liturgy determines what goes on out in the world…During the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass the floodgates of heaven open up and all the graces come pouring down off the altar, through the congregation, out across to all creation. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is the most important thing in the universe. When things are properly done, the Liturgy raises earth up towards the level of heaven and it reorders and fixes the damage done by Adam and his descendants.”

We understand why he is persecuted, and give thanks to God for his courage.
