Without going into too much detail too soon, circumstances are such that some changes will be coming to the blog in the near future.
I’m sure you’ve noticed the ad spaces, and I trust that it’s obvious why I had to place them here.
I’m still working through some of the particulars as to how these Google ads work, and I would ask for you patience. It seems that some of the video ads are aggressive in taking over your ability to scroll down the page. As soon as I can, I’ll delete these.
As for other forthcoming changes, I’ll update you soon.
Thanks. I remain grateful for all of you.
Louie
Dear Mr Verrechio, I know you said you’d have your website manager look into it, but I’d be very grateful if we could access the website proper from mobile devices, rather than just the mobile site, which I find difficult to read and use. I only have a mobile phone to access the site. Before the change of format a few months ago, I could access the website proper, and it was much easier to read and use. Thank you for your work for the glory of God and the good of His Holy Church.
Google, as with other NWO corporations, are very aggressive in spying on all our electronic activity across many platforms. It is completely morally unacceptable that they collect all that private data and hold to use for their purposes. (The reason ads can be “personalised” is that all of one’s activity on one’s mobile phone, or PC, etc., is stored and collated and used to identify products and services that one “might be interested in”.) Read the text of their “privacy” and “use and collection and sharing of data” , part of the service “agreement”. It is in egregious breach of the most fundamental rights and freedoms. It is Orwellian. 1984 is now. Needless to say, Google, Apple, etc. are usually in attendance at the secret elite NWO government meetings of Bilderberg, etc. (going on at this moment in Austrian Alps).
Not defending the internet providers. However, if you do or have done anything on the net their bots have and keep your information. They provide a “free” service which no one is forced to use. They are entitled to earn a profit from said service. The googles, yahoo’s, bings etc are in effect the equivalent of giant electronic “newspapers” in cyberspace. We (the users) are their “readers” if you will. Like any “newspaper” or media company, they sell ad(s) to space to companies to generate revenue, cover their cost and make a profit.
The reality is that what Louie does is vital but getting more expensive by the day. He is like water in the desert with the desert expanding daily.
To keep supplying “water”, He can either win the lottery, turn his blog into a dues paying membership site, seek donations, sell some ad space or a combination thereof.
A laborer is worth his wages. But combat pay takes it to a whole other level.
Allow the ads, Louie. Our Mother wears “combat boots” and She won’t let her Son’s soldiers run out of bullets in the middle of the battle.
I really dislike the ads. Sorry, Louie. I can understand if you have a financial need to generate the revenue, but some ads are just gross next to the religious photo you have in the background.
I see ads for things I have never looked at, and from sites I have never been visited. I read the Google explanation of how they decide what ads to show, and if a person visits a website that sells clothing for men, women and children, then they can see ads from Google for all sorts of clothing they have never looked at, from that site. Some health care ads are related to how old Google thinks (knows?) you are. I have seen remedies with awful pictures for conditions which thank God I don’t have.
I am sure you get the idea.
I am just so sad that your blog now has the visual intrusion of the secular, revolutionary world, juxtaposed with beautiful imagery of our Catholic faith.
Louie,

I understand your need to make revenue from the site, if only to cover the costs of running the blog, but I can’t deny that the google ads make me a little uncomfortable… I am lucky that I haven’t gotten any crazy ads poppig up thus far, but as one of the commenters above noted, sometimes unexpected things can show up.

Maybe you’ve already looked into this, but wouldn’t it be a whole lot better to have ads from catholic stores and companies? There are a good number of traditional catholic stores on the web, surely some of them might be interested in advertising in your site at a reasonable prize?
I’m thinking of something similar to what they have at the regina blog:

Anyway – however you feel is the best way to go forward, God Bless, and keep up the good work.
Thanks, Louie. I was having problems scrolling down on your blog. I thought the problem was in my computer. Thanks for addressing this issue. God bless!
Ads?….What ads??
I only have eyes for those wise words…
Don’t mind the ads at all Louie:+) Keep up the great work:+) God bless~
I have adblock plus installed on my chrome browser….i never see any ads.
Even the fat lady in the bikini with the banana didn’t put me off. (FYI peeps, you can ‘x’ the ads you don’t like seeing anyway and your cookies will start to streamline the sorts of ads you get on Louie’s page). Keep up the good work, Louie.
Yes – in theory…
Although I get ads all the time through other sites from things I’ve not clicked on or looked at a single time, or other related sites – I’m dead serious (Anastasia dating etc etc, and other like minded things too…)
You yourself mention about having an unexpected ad show up with a lady with a bikini.
Look, I think we should be counselling Louie how to make the site better, not merely “acceptable”…
Yes – I’ll keep coming to Louie’s site regardless of the ads that pop up, but it would be nice to have some CATHOLIC stuff on those ads too, which – heck – might even have useful things on them too! Books, rosaries, scapulars, even Catholic media!! There’s even family businesses which sell modest clothings and mantillas for women…
Why not help small Catholic businesses, which would simultaneously help Louie run this blog too?
Do we want an “OK” site, or a truly stellar site, which will draw more and more people into Louie’s blog?
This is the truth. We ought always strive to avoid anything that may not be moral.
I haven’t seen any ads so I must have some sort of filter. I recently bought MacKeeper and I think that’s what does it. Louie, we need you to keep doing what you do – whatever.
