As many of you know, the Pontifical Council for Culture recently produced a cringe-worthy video in preparation for an upcoming conference, “Women’s Cultures: Equality and Difference.”

In the video, women are invited to submit one-minute films or photographs about what it means to be a woman today.

The English language version of the video has since been deleted from YouTube, but thankfully John Vennari of Catholic Family News retained a copy. You can view it below:

It seems to me that the movers and shakers in Rome would do better to ask what it means to be a Catholic during the dark night known as the Pontificate of Francis. So…

  1. So – the Ministry of Truth gets rid of the video, and we have to rely upon an unofficial source if we wish to see it. Why is the Ministry of Mendacious Balderdash so keen on hiding its publications ? This is not how honest men behave – but that assumes these people know the difference between right & wrong; a very foolish assumption.

  2. If we want to know what it means to be a woman today, we need look no further than the Virgin Mary, the Mother of God and Our Mother. She is our role model. What any other woman has to say is totally mindless. To Jesus through Mary!

    My opinion of the bishops is unprintable – I despise them more than I can say. Not Christian in the least, not one bit, I know, and extremely wrong for a load of reasons – but is it surprising ? These men are supposed to teach the Faith. It is why they are numbered among the successors of the Apostles. And the Apostles taught, and evangelised. They did not go on expensive junkets to far-off places (funded by the Catholic tax-payer, natch) to burble useless inanities that leave the Church & the world no better off for having been burbled.

    They are bureaucrats & CEOs, nothing more – not men of Apostolic spirit. They do not even preach against the errors & heresies by which the Faithful are surrounded – that would never do.Instead, they fraternise with the world and the mighty of the world (as their ample girth plainly shows).

    They show no evidence of knowing Christ as anything more than a dead guy in some ancient books – such a dead religion is powerless to convert souls or change lives. It’s why Evangelicalism is attracting tens of millions of Catholics, and one of the main reasons the CC is rotting away. These men in mitres prate endlessly of “discerning the signs of the times” – while they are stone-blind both to the ruinous condition of the Church, and to its causes.

    I am wishing I could think up a banal little video or photo. You wouldn’t think it is so hard, judging by the blonde, but obviously there is an element of work even in a bad video. But I have until Jan20…..maybe I can do it. Wish me luck!

  11. I wish I was as technically adept as you Louie. Loved the spoof. I have followed your journey with interest as it closely mirrors my own awakening. I used your Harvesting the Fruit materials in order to try and bring a sedevacantist back to the faith and thought that all was well leaving aside a few aberrations. The scales fell from my eyes with this pontificate, however, although the seeds were sown with the discussions with the sedevacantist and his knowledge of documents prior to the Council of which I was woefully ignorant and various other reading materials I happened across. Ironically, he renounced his sedevacantist position just after the election of Pope Francis – at a time when sedevacantism has never been more attractive!

  13. Even non-Catholics are seeing that there’s something amiss about the Catholic Church versus the current papacy. Pope Francis stepping outside of his jurisdiction to push the bogus conclusions of Global Warm… err… Climate Chang…. errr… Climate Disruption, or whatever they’re trying to rephrase it as to push more useless taxes, abortion, sterilization, 3rd-world discrimination etc. simply reveals that he has no idea what he’s talking about, he’s just hopping on liberal trends, and all of these things will only further undermine the actual goals of the Church by furthering Western Styled Communism!

    Don’t worry… it’s not like ISIS is out to kill him or anything… It’s not like there’s some prophecy of a Pope being killed that is yet to come to fruition or anything… The world loves Francis! Therefore he should be perfectly safe! That and the homo-lobby can now walk around more freely without any nosey Swiss Guard Commander or his troops keeping them from their midnight activities.

Do they really believe our baptism has made us all into utter fools without a trace of grace or wisdom within us to discern the true meaning of that wretched video! One expects this nonsense from the popular, mainstream, commercial media, not from the Vatican.

    Sadly enough both to the woman in the video, and her targeted audience, there is no sense of women’s relationship to men. Does any woman really think she can define herself without reference to any men at all, and, yes, I mean this: without reference to her father, her brother(s), her spouse, her son(s). I humbly submit that that is impossible. (The same can be said about any definition of a man without reference to him as father, husband, brother, son..etc..to daughter, wife, sister and mother…etc…)

    Instead of sharing the intellectual and practical fruits which spring forth from contemplating our Blessed Mother’s intimate relationship with each person of the Holy Trinity as a standard for both women and men and the family, the socialist-driven video continues the suicidal agenda of suggesting that now ‘in the fullness of our modern and progressive times’ women are ‘free at last, Free At Last, FREE AT LAST’ from the clutches of manhood (i.e. fatherhood), and that the Church has to finally ‘come of age’ and recognize this fact. What drivel. What nonsense. However, reading between the lines, the video seems to celebrate something more horrible, and that is the radical feminist agenda, which would decry: Its all about me. I will not serve God, let alone man.

    The video falls culturally so much in concert with the spirit of our modern polity which suggests a so-called ‘war against women’ is in play. From my perspective the really cultural, gendered-based war has been against boys, from over-prescribing ridlin at public schools to the ‘pansyfication’ of our culture, and including — dare I say it — our Catholic liturgy….

  28. Alarico, this is so true. Why would any woman or man want to be considered as an entity entirely detached from those most important to her or him? It is senseless! It seems like yet another ploy to get the self-centered women fired up for even more offensive participation in the Mass and the Church in general. In so many parts of the US they over-run the parishes and chanceries. I don’t think I could attend a modern parish Church if I did not have my SSPX chapel in the area. I have no patience for the constant showmanship of lay people of either sex; unfortunately it’s usually a dissatisfied female.

    He ignored warnings against having a Council – and the Church is still infected with its nonsense & the resulting abominations 50 years later. It takes phenomenally useless Popes to make Catholics want to puke at the very mention of the Papacy – but he & successors have made the Papacy a reason to. It’s like a runaway train – but this is real life, not a Stephen Seagal thriller. A Stephen Seagal thriller would have SS climbing down into the train, beating the Pope senseless (yay !), and stopping the train without crashing it into a ravine. But the CC has no Stephen Seagal, or Arnie, or Bruce Willis, or Jean-Claude van Damme, or Sly Stallone.

    Had there been no Bad Pope John, there would be no Paul VI, & no Pope Francis. Instead, the Popes would be Catholics, not imitation Anglicans without any of the good bits.

  31. The term ‘delusions of grandeur’ was coined, it seems, just for the speaker of such statements as those opening remarks. The lists of experts is frightful. Knowing that Abp Lefebvre was in an original preparatory commission, and that the commission’s diligent work was cavalierly discarded, it almost appears that the cards were stacked against orthodoxy then, as blatantly as they were at the most recent synod. I am so glad that this information is readily available to educate the pewsitters, and that there are bloggers such as Louie who whose aim is that education.
