Nice work as usual, Louie. Log in to Reply rich April 14, 2016 He is your pope and he is making an official, word-wide, exhortation to all Catholics on the matter of morals. If he is your pope then this most definitely has to pertain to you. When in the history of the Church did popes say things addressed to all the Catholics of the world pertaining to the Faith, or to morals, that were allowed to be tossed in the trash if you didnt agree with them? Im nowhere near the smartest guy who posts here but I really dont know of any time that this sort of thing has ever taken place. Whats the purpose anymore of a pope when nothing he says, regarding faith and morals, is binding to all the faithful? Log in to Reply Cortez April 15, 2016 Hey Rich, your Pope – my Pope, whatever! We’re ALL in this crisis which Our Lady of Good Success profesied about, together. And you KNOW it. On the other hand thanks, though, for taking such a deep interest in “my” Pope as you do, as I suffer through this chastisement of the past 50 years or so along with this God given punishment of a Pope. I know I deserve it. You, on the other hand, are Scott free somewhere-who knows. Amazing how you keep abreast and interest, though, in such a man with whom you don’t even associate yourself. Come on in and suffer it up with us anytime, ya hear! Log in to Reply rich April 15, 2016 The FSSP (the latin speaking branch of the vatican 2 false religion) did irreparable damage to my family about four years ago. I suffer a great deal, as does my entire family, every day thanks to the false religion founded in 1965. If I wasnt suffering with you I wouldnt be posting here. Amateur Brain Surgeon April 15, 2016 ABS rationalises his opposition to Our Pope and Our Cross with reference to Aquinas who averred that an unjust law was no law at all and so ABS considers AL to be nominally a part of the Magisterium insofar as the parts in it are orthodox and in authentic continuity with Tradition but when it comes to the approval of dispensing Communion to adulterers and/or sodomites, then those parts are not only unjust, they are positive commands to sin, and so ABS treats those parts as not being a part of a Catholic Magisterium and, thus not binding. Papal positivism is not part of Catholic Tradition and so we are not bound by the surprises of Bergoglio in this matter anymore than the President of MIT could bind his students to the evil novelty that 2 + 2 = 5. Log in to Reply Danielpan April 14, 2016 Louie or anyone here, Catholic Answers is read by many “conservative” Catholics. Can someone comment on Jimmy Akin’s item 11 in which he said those who are not “subjectively culpable for objective mortal sin” should receive the Eucharist? http://www.catholic.com/blog/jimmy-akin/pope-franciss-new-document-on-marriage-12-things-to-know-and-share Log in to Reply rich April 14, 2016 Im not sure what this guy is trying to say, other than that, like his buddy mr bergolio, he is making excuses for mortally sinful behavior. You and I, and everyone who frequents this blog, is more than capable of knowing right from wrong….but according to akin and bergoglio, most in this world are mentally retarded and therefore not culpable of any wrongdoing. I would say that anyone who references the modernist CCC, like shakin akin does, is already lost. That “catechism”, like anything else produced since vatican 2, should be disregarded. Log in to Reply Amateur Brain Surgeon April 16, 2016 Mr. Akin seems like a genuinely likable an intelligent man but there are far better sources of Catholic commentary – Mr. V. for instance. Voice of the Family also has been astute and very aware of the semiotics of the entire exhortation and it points out crucial changes and language that continues to lead us down the path of perdition. http://voiceofthefamily.com/amoris-laetitias-approach-to-same-sex-unions-already-rejected-by-synod-fathers/ Log in to Reply maryiloveher April 14, 2016 “Ah! How we must pray and pray. We are witnessing an assault on the Church by the Devil, an attack such as the world has never yet seen. We must pray to Our Lady, the Blessed Virgin Mary, to come to our aid, for we cannot indeed know what tomorrow may hold. It is not possible that God should suffer all these blasphemies, these sacrileges offered to His glory, to His majesty. Think of the abortion laws to be seen in so many countries, or divorce in Italy, all the ruin of the moral law, the ruin of truth. It is hard to imagine that all this can happen and that God will not one day speak and bring dire punishments upon the world! That is why we must ask God to have mercy on us and our brothers, but we must strive, we must fight. Fight for the maintenance of Tradition and fight fearlessly. Above all, we must strive to preserve the rite of our holy Mass because it is the foundation of the Church and of Christian civilisation. If there were no longer a true Mass in the Church, the Church would disappear.” Archbishop Lefebvre Log in to Reply maryiloveher April 14, 2016 “The test of charity is the accomplishment of the Good Lord’s will. Therefore total dependence upon the Good Lord – that is charity .Our Lord Himself says, “You are My disciples if you fulfill My commandments. If you fulfill My commandments, We will come to you and will in you make Our abode.” It is very clear. It is dependence upon Our Lord Jesus Christ. After this outline of our apostolate, of our interior life, of our behavior towards God, towards Our Lord, towards our apostolate, let us turn now to those who profess independence in regard to God. And we will see precisely that our current situation in the history of the Church, in the current epoch of the Church, is the true situation in which we should be and we should stay, because our adversaries are precisely those who proclaim independence and revolution against God and who wage war against all dependence on God, against all the laws of the Good Lord, against all the laws, supernatural and natural. They want to destroy everything. By the mere fact that something has been made by God, it is to be destroyed! The natural laws of marriage, all the natural laws even of simple material nature, even the ways of cultivating the earth, even the manners of behaving oneself everywhere, everything that recalls God, all that reminds us of a dependence upon God must be broken, must be changed. The revolution must be carried out in all domains: liberation – liberty! liberty! liberty! – to free oneself from God, to free oneself from dependence upon God in all domains, that is the revolution. Now that is the spirit of Satan. That is hell. Hell is independence in regard to God. “Non serviam!” “Nolumus hunc regnare usper nos – we do not want this One to rule over us!” This is the cry of hell! Then we see all that being brought about before our eyes: the struggle for the secular school, this is the struggle against God, against dependence upon God. All those bad laws that have been passed: abortion, contraception, divorce, are the destruction of the laws of God and, therefore, destruction of dependence upon God… …Now liberalism makes a pact with the satanic ideas of the world, in revolt against God, and against all the laws that the Good Lord has made, natural and supernatural. Liberalism wants to join forces with those people and therefore admits these principles. So we who want to save and reorganize this dependence upon God and on Our Lord Jesus Christ in ourselves, around us, by the intercession of the Most Holy Virgin Mary, with the reign of the Most Holy Virgin Mary, well, we rebel against those who do not want dependence upon God, dependence upon Our Lord Jesus Christ, and against those who are ruining the dependence on Our Lord Jesus Christ.” Archbishop Lefebvre Log in to Reply my2cents April 14, 2016 I don’t have the time, patience or desire to read this lengthy document. Does any one know if the words “sin”, “repentance”, “confession” or “absolution” are mentioned? If not, discussing “irregular” situations which are contrary to Catholic teaching is nothing more than babble. Log in to Reply maryiloveher April 15, 2016 “What, then, must we do? Confronted with this unleashing of the devil against the Church – for it is indeed that – what are we to do? We must look at things in terms of the supernatural. The devil is at large today – this is perhaps one of his last battles, an out-and-out conflict. He is seeking to attack on all fronts. If Our Lady of Fatima said that one day the devil would mount to the highest spheres of the Church it is not perhaps incorrect. For myself, I affirm nothing, I condemn no one, but if it be true that she said it, it could happen. When will it happen? I do not know, but there are now signs and symptoms which might lead us to suspect that among the highest circles in Rome there are now people who have lost the Faith. I am ready to say, do and grant whatever the powers in Rome, from the Pope himself to the lowest secretaries of congregations desire, provided that they do not rob us of our Faith. Do not make me change what the Council of Trent said. Do not make me change my Credo. Do not make me change the essence of the sacraments. If an angel from heaven tells you what is contrary to the truth, says Paul, do not listen to him. We must pray. We must do Penance. The Blessed Virgin has told us so. But we must put it into practice. We must say the rosary as a family. We must pray before the Blessed Sacrament. Pray to our Lord, to Our Lady, to our guardian angels. We must pray to Saint Michael, Archangel, we must live among those in heaven that they may intercede for us and help us in our tragic plight.” Archbishop Lefebvre Log in to Reply maryiloveher April 15, 2016 “He must be the King of our intellects and of our thoughts because He is the truth. Jesus Christ is the Truth, because He is God. Is then Our Lord Jesus Christ truly King of our thoughts? Is it He who truly orients all of our thoughts, our reflections, our intellectual life, in the life of our Faith? Is it truly Our Lord Jesus Christ Who is the light of our intellects? Is He King of our wills? He is the Law. If the Tablets of the Law were found in the Ark of the Covenant in the Old Testament, they represented precisely Our Lord Jesus Christ, Who today is found in our tabernacles. But today with a tremendous superiority have we the Law in our tabernacles, in our “arks of the covenant.” It is no longer the cold stones of the Old Testament but rather it is Our Lord Jesus Christ Himself Who is the Law. The Word of God is the Law by Whom all has been made, in Whom all things have been created. He is the Law not only of souls, of minds, of wills, but He is the Law of all nature. All the laws which we discover in nature come from Our Lord Jesus Christ – come from the Word of God. It suffices to consider that all creatures follow with incomparable fidelity the laws of God, that they follow physical laws, chemical laws, and all the laws of vegetative nature, of animal nature. These laws are followed impeccably. And we, too, must follow in a diligent manner, in a free manner, the laws of God inscribed in our hearts. It is precisely due to our liberty that we must attach ourselves to this law which is the path of our happiness, the way to eternal life.” Archbishop Lefebvre Log in to Reply TC April 15, 2016 As scandalous and disastrous as this may be, it certainly should surprise no one. After all, one can not expect anything Catholic to come from a man who is not Catholic. Bergoglio is simply contributing his part to the edification of this False New Church, just like all the post-conciliar bishops of Rome have done. Furthermore – which heresy is more detrimental to the salvation of souls (at least when we consider numbers): that one need not be a Catholic (or even believe in Christ) to be saved – as Wojtyla, Ratzinger, and Bergoglio have taught over and over again, directly denying the most well known dogma of the Faith (extra ecclesiam nulla salus), or that adulterers can go to Communion? Log in to Reply my2cents April 15, 2016 There is ABSOLUTELY no way the post-conciliar “church” believes in the Real Presence of Our Lord in the Holy Eucharist….even though they won’t admit it. (ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS!). Therefore, anyone could receive Communion—-it’s only bread and wine. What’s the big deal!! It is this loss of faith that is key to the destruction of the Catholic faith. Thank God for Tradition and aka Catholics! The exhortation should be renamed “The Joy of Love and the Pain of Sin”.
