Good questions, Louie. We’d like to ask a few more –about what was going on when he joined the Jesuits? Like, Jorge, since you said you were so enthralled with Communist writings, DID you know:
–That when Argentinean journalist Alfredo Muñoz Unsaín, (Havana’s correspondent for France Press) interviewed the “Black Pope”- Pedro Arrupe- on his visit to Cuba in the early 1980s,”[the Jesuit leader] “said he was very pleased with the work of the Jesuits in Latin America, particularly of the many important disciples they had developed who later reached prominent positions in all walks of life.” “Well, I guess you are not proud of all of them,” retorted Unsaín,- “Don’t forget Fidel Castro was one of your disciples.” To which Arrupe answered– “And what makes you think we are not proud of Fidel Castro?”
___
And did you know:
–that after Castro attended 3 Jesuit institutions: College Lasalle, Colegio Dolores, and Colegio Belen and then went to law school; Jesuit Father Antonio Llorente, Castro’s teacher and spiritual adviser at Belén said: “Fidel Castro is a man of destiny,” “Behind him is the hand of God. He has a mission to fulfill and he will fulfill it against all obstacles.”?
___
And did you know:
— that by the time of the Cuban revolution in 1958 [the same year you joined the Society as a novice], the Jesuits in Latin America were going fully Marxist-Leninist in ideology, so that a former Jesuit Malachi Martin wrote:-“the Jesuits became fanatic, left-wing Communists, under Pedro Arrupe, himself a Marxist, and a great advocate of Fidel Castro.” (in his book: “The Jesuits and the Betrayal of the Roman Catholic Church”) and that the Jesuits proceeded to foment Communist revolutions throughout Latin America and Africa, with Castro’s aid?

March 11, 1958 Jorge Bergoglio became a Jesuit Novice (year of the Cuban revolution 1958-9)
March 12, 1960 Jorge Bergoglio took final vows as a Jesuit (The year our Lady designated for revealing the 3rd secret (“because by then it would be evident”)
March 13, 2013 Jorge Bergoglio elected Pope -after Benedict XVI’s completely voluntary abdication.
March 14, 2013 Vatican City- Pope Francis’ said his first Mass in the Sistine Chapel, giving a well-received homily to the Cardinals-in which he said:
” When we walk without the cross, when we build without the cross and when we proclaim Christ without the cross, we are not disciples of the Lord. We are worldly.” “We may be bishops, priests, cardinals, all of this, but we are not disciples of the Lord.”

Thank you, Louie, for this. It’ beautifully done but the message is so sad and so true! I find a strange kind of comfort to know I am not alone in feeling so sad [and angry] at what this Pope is doing to the papacy.
The next Bergoglio hymn: “It Came Upon a Mid Nightmare”.
With Obama getting over chummy with Cuba, +++Francis seems to be in the thick of it:
— The letter from Francis “kicked” negotiations “into a higher gear,”…The letter “gave us greater impetus and momentum for us to move forward,” the administration official said. The Vatican was the only government that participated in the negotiations between the U.S. and Cuba. Vatican officials were “in those meetings,” the official said. http://hotair.com/archives/2014/12/17/pope-francis-canada-brokered-cuba-deal/
Don’t think it started with Francis, as JPII was pushing similar things, but he seems determined to take it as far as possible. Not everyone knows that:
-On July 15, 1948, L’Osservatore Romano published a decree about communism, which excommunicated those who propagate “the materialistic and anti-Christian teachings of communism”. The Sanctum Officium continued to issue condemnations throughout the 1950’s and was confirmed in 1959 by Pope John XXIII when it was announced that Fidel Castro was excommunicated for leading a Communist revolution in Cuba.”
Fidel had been Baptized Catholic as a child, but claimed to be an atheist as an adult.
Indignus: “-On July 15, 1948, L’Osservatore Romano published a decree about communism, which excommunicated those who propagate “the materialistic and anti-Christian teachings of communism”. ”
Yes, but that was in 1948. Bergoglio thinks the Church started only in 1968. Who would have known?
Dear Marietta,
You’re right about the VII influence. But on top of that, he said in his writings he was thrilled with his high-school’s communist teacher, who became a close friend and helped supply his insatiable appetite for reading it’s works. Since he was born in 1936, he would have been just starting high school when that 1948 decree was issued, and in the decade that followed it, the Church kept issuing more denouncements –right up to the late 1950’s when he entered the Jesuit order, which was promoting Marxism at the time, and in very hot water with the Vatican..
Thank God Louie V has a sense of humor, for if I didn’t have a chance to laugh at this Papacy, I’d be weeping all the time!
We agree with Pat Buchanan’s reaction to Obama’s determination
[highly encouraged by Pope Francis] to reverse U.S. anti-Communist Cuban-policy :
“The celebrations in Havana and the sullen silence in Miami tell you all you need to know about who won this round with Castro’s Cuba.”
In JFK’s metaphor, ‘Obama traded a horse for a rabbit’.
