Reading the pope’s comments in his interview with Eugenio Scalfari is enough to make a more innocent person wonder if it is not perhaps a hoax. It’s as if the man speaking in Francis’ name is not even Catholic much less the pope.
I write this with a very heavy heart and in all sincerity.
The unfortunate truth, far too unsavory a reality for many to admit, is that the current pope is the long awaited generalissimo of the humanist revolution that was unleashed in earnest in 1958.
The infantrymen of the revolt, the modernists who were in the previous century consigned to operating clandestinely, were set free to move about in the light of day the moment Angelo Roncalli assumed the throne of St. Peter.
After decades of war planning, the rebels were by far the more prepared of those who took to the battlefield known as Vatican Council II, masterfully outwitting the Miles Rex (the faithful Soldiers of Christ the King), sealing in the conciliar text the terms of their bloodless takeover.
With the coupe de tat thus brought to completion, the more unwieldy task of instituting the new ecclesial constitution fell to Giovanni Battista Montini, on whose watch the unsuspecting faithful were plunged headlong into the reality of a supposed new springtime, its harbingers ruthlessly determined to dispense with the Church of the Saints once and for all.
The papacy of Paul VI was akin to the dirty work of governing over a conquered nation upon which the occupiers were charged with enforcing a new culture against the wishes of the occupied. To be sure, he carried it out with remarkable aplomb save for the protection of the Holy Ghost that led to the promulgation of Humanae Vitae.
At the death of Paul VI in 1978, with the faithful as yet still reeling, Karol Wojtyla ascended to the throne, inaugurating a lengthy reign that, though innovative in its own right, was largely dedicated to the illusion of anointing with Catholic chrism the humanist new order under the guise of “conservatism.”
It was on his watch that the new church of man was sufficiently Catholicized in appearance as to establish a new baseline for “orthodoxy” in the minds of those who might otherwise mourn the Church of Christ the King.
For the most enlightened proponents of the rebel cause, the greatest disappointment of this papacy was John Paul II’s inability to configure the College of Cardinals is such way as to assure the selection of a suitable successor.
This opened the way for Josef Cardinal Ratzinger to ascend to the throne, a man who seemed to possess at once an awareness of the gravity of all that had transpired, and yet an ecumenist who was ever determined to glorify the inglorious Council. Pope Benedict XVI will go down in history as the pope whose love of liturgy brought him close to restoring the Church to order, but a man too weak to combat the occupiers head-on, ultimately waving the white flag of surrender in the form of an abdication.
A gentle and trusting soul by nature, Benedict lacked the cunning to stack the cardinalatial deck for a restorationist conclave, and so with rebel blood surging through its collective veins, the Cardinal Electors who assembled to choose his successor quickly decided upon Jorge Bergoglio.
At this, the generalissimo of the revolution has finally arrived.
“The unfortunate truth, far too unsavory a reality for many to admit, is that the current pope is the long awaited generalissimo of the humanist revolution that was unleashed in earnest in 1958.”
If only more Catholics and priests could realise this.
“If only more Catholics and priests could realise this.”
Some will, Martina, some will…
Louis, I agree with you wholeheartedly. The greater sadness is not the statements in se, but what does this mean in action and practically?
My greatest sorrow has been being a Catholic under the reign of JPII, Benedict XVI & now Francis and to think he’s canonizing the man who has done more damage than any other pope save Paul VI.
What do I say to my children? “Oh yes, he’s a saint but don’t follow his actions in Assisi, his encyclicals, and his marking of Shiva on his forehead.”
Honestly, I fought the same fight you did 13 years ago and did a lot more than most Catholic apologists back in the day and the answers I received from bishops, and directly in the Holy See has taught me that this is becoming one big nightmare.
May God end this madness NOW
I read your blog. I see that you are little discouraged with everything in the Vatican. I share your feeling. I console myself saying that God is in charge of the Church.I am just an ordinary and average priest working in small village parish. I love the Church and the Popes. To-day I am hearing more and more about self. I never remember hearing about the house Pope used and the car he was driven. There is so much talk about the rich as if they are bad people. When I hear this kind of statements, I am reminded of the american politicians. Rich and the poor are children of God. Is God going to send someone to hell beacuse they have a big house and drive big car? God is in charge and in time He will straiten everything out. Let us remain commited to Jesus and His Holy Church.
Pope Francis:
“Proselytism is solemn nonsense, it makes no sense.”
Jesus Christ:
“And Jesus coming, spoke to them, saying: All power is given to me in heaven and in earth. Going therefore, teach ye all nations; baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world.” (Mt. 28:18-20)
Reading through this interview, I was struck with a constant impulse to justify what this man is saying in Catholic terms. With each challenge to the Faith, my mind tried to bend around what he was saying into some implied meaning that could be acceptable to a Catholic in a certain limited context. But at the same time, I realized that this is exactly the trap Francis has laid for us. All those who exercise themselves to find a Catholic way to embrace what he is saying are actually undermining their own faith and soiling their Baptismal Robe. He is schooling us to stretch Catholicism around totally false precepts as if we should make cysts of these contradictions on the Body of Christ. Those who drink this poison may loose their ability to disentangle themselves from these errors when, in the deep mystery of the coherence of our minds, our thought becomes entangled with them.
My friend, it ain’t over til the fat lady sings. We have the Holy Spirit, and I think Cardinal Burke may play a role before the story ends. We’ll see… In the meanwhile, we have to remember those words, “This too, will pass.” I refer, of course, to the present papacy…. He may do damage, but it is all in God’s plan I am sure, as He weeds us out. Remember, too that Christ has asked, that when He returns will He find faith… part of the plan, I assume.
Has anyone ever compared our popes to the last 3 Democratic presidents? I thought Carter was terrible, then came Clinton– AWFUL, them came Obama—ABOMINABLE Each lacking in backbone, courage, leadership and moral integrity.
I pray the popes avoid their example and LEAD, and not be led, in order to be liked and politically correct. Social justice, humanism, relativism are the pitfalls today.
May God help us and send the Holy Spirit! to the Vatican and our parishes.
It just keeps coming! No let up. The Pope speaks every single day and we go reeling from one unexpected speaking event to the next in an unending stream. And we try to make sense of it all. This Pope wants to change the Church. I guess it is his prerogative as the Vicar of Christ. We know that the Church will last until the end of time but in what form is the question.
We want to be faithful Catholics but having to explain the Holy Father all the time is wearying. But we are not in control. What we can do is seek holiness in our lives and in our small spheres of the world. We cannot change what the government is doing or what the Church is doing. We await the triumph of the Immaculate Heart in this vale of tears.
But events of this year show me ever more profoundly that the Traditional Latin Mass IS the form most hated by the enemy of souls and that it is the right path for the faithful. Not to schism, I cannot go there, but to support the TLM wherever and whenever we can.
Good point, Magdalene. As a serving priest I am convinced that the only way out of this madness that Louie writes about so well, is a return to authentic Catholic tradition. I have only recently come to the TLM and I can see why the wreckers hated it so much and wanted it gone – because it is the noblest and most efficacious expression of the Catholic Faith, and radiates holiness. We had better ready ourselves for a time of suffering under this papacy.
The Lateran Treaty of 1929 established a new arrangement for the Popes and the Vatican. Pius XI and XII didn’t do enough to accomplish the requests made by Our Lady at Fatima. Pope Benedict was the seventh head of this new arrangement. On the day Benedict XVI announced his resignation, lightning struck St Peter’s Dome twice.
We find ourselves now at Chapter 14 of the Book of the Apocalypse. Read it.
I’m speechless. I tried to write a blog article, but it is hardly more than a title: Vatican III.
http://publicvigil.blogspot.com/2013/10/vatican-iii.html
[1] Woe to the pastors, that destroy and tear the sheep of my pasture, saith the Lord. [2] Therefore thus saith the Lord the God of Israel to the pastors that feed my people: You have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold I will visit upon you for the evil of your doings, saith the Lord. [3] And I will gather together the remnant of my flock, out of all the lands into which I have cast them out: and I will make them return to their own fields, and they shall increase and be multiplied. [4] And I will set up pastors over them, and they shall feed them: they shall fear no more, and they shall not be dismayed: and none shall be wanting of their number, saith the Lord.
— Prophecy Of Jeremias 23:1-4
Or you might want to consider that every Pope for the last 100 years has been called a liberal by extreme right wingers. That includes Leo XIII and Benedict XV.
This Pope wants to change the Church. I guess it is his prerogative as the Vicar of Christ.
No! The Vicar of Christ is bound to be the servant of the Church and Her Tradition. His authority is supreme but not absolute.
You know, reading this makes me want to pray and offer sacrifice even more . I KNOW the establishment church is in utter chaos, showing little hope for restoring order. It’s my job to soldier on, broken-hearted at times, but ever hopeful in Eternity. I have recently discovered the writings of Michael Davies. Talk about a guy who was so very alone in a church that hated him. Despite this, he fought like a man for his beloved Faith. I find much inspiration in this.
Remember, when you feel the despair creep in, remember it’s an actual entity that you are battling. The spirit of Despair.
“In the name of Jesus Christ, I bind the spirit of Despair and send it to the foot of the cross to be judged and sentenced by my Lord. Blood of Christ, wash over me!”
Soldier on, and keep the Faith. Entrust it to Our Lady Help of Christians!
We have the Holy Spirit, and I think Cardinal Burke may play a role before the story ends.
For those who think he is the answer, check into his support of the Fifth Column, The Hebrew Association of Catholics, a heretical horde if there ever was one.
And, at the AHC website, one cam find vids of Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke not only defending Seder Meals but happily stating that he has participated in them.
Dear Mr. V. Now THAT is writing at its most powerful and convincing.
May God Bless and keep you
I honestly don’t even know what to think or believe at this point. I keep telling myself to just put my trust in the Holy Spririt and follow Christ. The clergy will do and say what they will. I just try to keep my eyes fixed on the cross. It IS our responsibility to lead others to CHRIST, and I will continue to do so. By the way, I wonder if following what one considers to be right includes those who think abortion is a woman’s right.
This is just a brilliant post. You are a very talented writer. I copied it all and ranted away at my blog. I am close to heartbroken. I knew the second BXVI abdicated there would be a modernist onslaught, and it has come to pass.
“I believe … not in a Catholic God, there is no Catholic God” (La Repubblica, October 1, 2013) -> Bergoglio admits that he doesn’t believe in God (for Catholic God is the only God), that he isn’t a Catholic and of necessity no pope.
Actually, that was the leasst troubling of his statements in my opinion. That can be legitimately interpreted as simply stating there is only one God, not a “Catholic” one, “Jewish” One, etc. But he should have, within the same answer, followed up with the explanation that the Catholic faith is the only one that provides the fullness of truth about God.
The biggest problem with most of what Francis says is he does not provide follow up within the interview which then allows for an anti-Catholic interpretation. Thus, those who say Francis’ comments are taken out of context are not entirely correct – he fails to PROVIDE the context within the statment itself most of the time. Whether this is on purpose or simply an unintentional failing on his part (to not offend in order to not alienate?) I don’t know. One can certainly have reservations about the likelihood of success this approach and its potential for collateral damage.
Please stop this cry-baby stuff.
Each of you is just feeding off the other’s negativity.
Have a bit of faith.
Fr. Malachi Martin once said words to the effect that the Society of St. Pius X was performing an inestimable service to Christ’s Church by assuring that a valid priesthood would remain after the great cataclysm.
I’ve never attended Mass with the SSPX, but if I lived closer to the local chapel I would begin attending last Sunday.
I cannot believe that, to me, the sedevcantists are beginng to make sense.
After the small ray of hope from Benedict XVI, I am truly heartbroken.
God bless you, Louie.
Johnny is right. The Pope´s statement: “And I believe in God, not in a Catholic God, there is no Catholic God…” is incredible.
There is only a Catholic God, the Most Holy Trinity, another God does not exist. The term “Catholic” means universal. The Catholic faith must be the universal faith (Matthew 28:16-20; Mark 16:15,16)
We were told that rought times would be ahead – we just need to stay close to out Mother. Keep those rosaries in hand!
Mr. McRory,
Please exercise your God-given intellect.
Each must curb the impulse to slur over study.
Have a bit of restraint.
It is truly shocking, but even more shocking that dispite the dismay of the whole catholic world, Bergoglio ordered the itnerview published on the Vatican Website yesterday…and has thus reendorsed everthing that Scalfari claimed he said…what pertinacity in heresy!
For two score years, Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI acted effectively as the rennet binding the Girondists in The Catholic Conservative Collective to the revolutionary Second Vatican Council but with the election of a man who is a full-blooded Conciliar Jacobin and who is now sowing confusion, and even beginning to scatter the pacific militant, there are two clear choices left to those who wish to preserve their Faith; one is domed to failure and one is effective.
The choice doomed to failure is to choose to keep one’s eyes and ears tightly closed to the obvious reality of what is happening and to remain bound to the novelties of Vatican Two and to the acceptance and defense of the noxiously novel Praxis of the modern Popes which is a praxis completely severed from the praxis of the Pre-Vatican Two Popes; that is the way to slowly but surely dissolve the surety of Faith you once had prior to the revolution.
The only sane and safe option is to become a Traditionalist and to become an autodidact (there are now innumerable resources out there free online and the Holy Ghost will guide you to them if that is your soul’s true desire) and to sever, to the extent to which that is possible, all connection with the local N.O. Parish and the Lil’ Licit Liturgy which will do to your Faith what, given enough time, stomach acid will do to a nail if you swallow it.
That is, your soul will slowly be dissolved if you drop it into the Lil’ Licit Liturgy in the same way that a nail will be dissolved if it you drop it into your stomach; don’t swallow either the revolutionary rite or a nail.
And it is not a bad idea to add the plea from Psalm 108 to your daily Rosary intention:
May his days be few: and his bishopric let another take.
Pope Francis could somewhat redeem himself because of his interview with the atheist Scalfari by having a give and take dialog with a victim of clerical abuse and their family. This would show true compassion and humility on his part. What a caring message this would send to his faithful Catholics. Can you imagine the fallout among his brothers in the Lord if he would do this?
Catholic God is God preached by The Catholic Church. That’s the only God. So Bergoglio says he doesn’t believe in God preached by The Catholic Church->Bergoglio says he doesn’t believe in God->Bergoglio isn’t a Catholic nor Pope but impostor and abomination of desolation standing in the holy place (Matthew 24:15; Bull “Cum Ex Apostolatus Officio” of Pope Paul IV, 1.).
