The photo above has been making the rounds on social media lately, leaving outrage and indignation in its wake.
What’s going on you may ask?
It’s a Novus Ordo deacon delivering a homily at Mass while showing his team spirit in support of the Philadelphia Eagles who, later that Lord’s Day, were set to square off against the Minnesota Vikings in the National Football Conference Championship game.
How dare he!
Who does this guy think he is making a mockery of the Mass; treating it as if it is little more than a “gathering of the people” in a rite “bound to time and place?” (1) It’s as if he “has no intention of presenting the Faith as taught by the Council of Trent, to which, nonetheless, the Catholic conscience is bound forever.” (2)
ANSWER: He’s an ordained representative of the conciliar church-of-man, whose behavior, though deeply disturbing to those who have been deceived into believing that the Novus Ordo Missae came from the hand of Holy Mother Church herself, faithfully communicated precisely what the architects of the bastard rite intended.
1. This is how the original GIRM for the Novs Ordo Missae described the new Mass.
2. The conclusion drawn by Cardinal Ottaviani, Cardinal Bacci, Archbishop Lefebvre, and a group of twelve theologians in their Brief Critical Study of the New Order of Mass (aka the Ottaviani Intervention) as communicated to Pope Paul VI prior to its promulgation.
As such, you won’t hear me complaining about how Deacon Doghead mocked the Mass. He did no such thing.
By putting that stupid mask on himself, he took the mask off the Novus Ordo, which is itself a mockery of the one and only authentic Roman Rite; i.e., he revealed the character of the new Mass for all to see.
And let us not forget that he isn’t exactly blazing a new trail here; rather, he’s just following in the footsteps of certain self-aggrandizing conciliar giants who came before him.
But innocent people who don’t know any better were genuinely scandalized!
Yes, they were, and it’s about time.
Even though the devout neo-conservatives who presently consider this dog-n-pony show sans chavel a grave offense against that which is Holy and set apart for divine worship, what they actually witnessed is solid evidence in support of the following observation about the Novus Ordo taken from the Ottaviani Intervention:
The outward setting of the Sacrifice, evidence of its sacred character, has been profaned.
It occurs to me that the disgust that many conservatives are expressing in light of this admittedly extreme example of liturgical showmanship is very much like the disgust that so-called “traditionalists” (aka Catholics) feel for even the most reverently celebrated Novus Ordo.
In both cases, the fact of their being repulsed comes from an awareness that the profane, the earthbound, and the anthropocentric has come to replace the sacred, the eternal, and the Christocentric.
For the conservative, this awareness is presently limited to isolated cases like the one presently under discussion, but it need not remain so.
It is my hope that incidents like these will move at least some of them to look at the Novus Ordo itself a bit more critically; not from a self-centered perspective focused on what they find personally uplifting, but rather relative to the Church’s venerable liturgical tradition and her immutable doctrines as so clearly expressed in the Traditional Roman Rite.
A good place to begin that reflection may be to ask:
Why is it that we never hear of such antics taking place within the Traditional Latin Mass; either past or present?
I’ve spoken with many a Novus Ordo lovin’ conservative Catholic who lived during the days before the Council, and other than whining about how we didn’t understand, the only complaints I’ve ever heard about “Mass in the old days” are things like, Fr. Breakneck used to brag that he could knock out a low Mass in under 30 minutes, Fr. Mumbler could barely pronounce the Latin, the sermons weren’t relevant, etc…
It is undeniable that there is something very different about the new Mass; something that makes it uniquely conducive not only to dog masks and cheese heads, but also to dancing clerics, gay activism (if you’ll forgive the repetition), pagan pageantry, immodest dress, and worst of all, Eucharistic sacrilege.
Truly, we could go on citing actual instances of Novus Ordo shenanigans until the cows come home, but I trust the point has been made.
In short, what the sincere will discover, if only they are willing to seek, is that the sacred character of the Traditional Latin Mass permeates every single part of the entire rite; whereas the character of the Novus Ordo, in spite of the presence of certain traditional expressions, is poisoned with the leaven of profanity and anthropocentricism.
May it please God to open their eyes to this reality, and if it takes more deacons in dog masks to get the ball rolling, so be it.
I live in Elkton, MD which is in the Wilmington Diocese. We have the TLM at St. Patrick’s in Wilmington, I believe on a weekly basis, and that is all. I’ve only been there on First Friday and Saturday. My parish is failing. People are leaving in droves. Our pastor wants us to increase our contributions. I sent him a note to the effect that I would increase my contribution by $1.oo per week but it is contingent on him allowing me to survey the people who have left the parish. I have an MS in Industrial Engineering. So far, crickets….. Yeah, the Eagles, the doughnuts are green, coats are green, ties are green, hats are green, the grass is green. It’s a religion, ya know?
The Holy Eucharist is desecrated at EVERY Novus Ordo “mass”. The dog-faced deacon (and all the other horrors) is an expected and natural result of this desecration. Should we be shocked?
P.S. I don’t believe consecration actually does take place, but that’s beside the point.
Well, in some other good news, Chris Ferrara has finally had enough of Cardinal Burke.
That formal correction ain’t coming folks!
Not from Burke anyway…

Well now Louie, perhaps this is the Bark of Peter.
Get with the new GIRM (Groooovy Interpretation of the Roman Mass)…as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone, it’s cool.
Louie , thirty years ago I watched a dear ole Italian lady so enraged with the carnival decor in the church, to call attention to the parish carnival, that the poor thing went nuts. She tore the balloons off the Hands of Our Lord on the large crucifix above the altar, she ripped off the burlap altar cloth and heaved the stuffed moneys away from in front of the altar,t and then she ran down the aisles scattering the other stuffed animals seated at the end of each pew.
The Monsignore forbid her to come into the Church ever again and meekly she apologized saying,”Sorry Father but I just lost it like Jesus did when he saw the money changers in the Temple.” Lucia is her name and she is in her nineties now. I think Lucia should have been given a whip too in order to snap the not so reverent reverend across his behind !
Johnno…………you gave me my chuckle for the day above.
Mary , who exactly is your Bishop?
Another glimpse at the manifold face of the devil. Usually he assumes a mask of piety, boundless concern for humanity, and the like. But occasionally he reveals his true horrific face. This is becoming more common.
W. Framcos Malooly, is our bishop. Today is the feast of St. Francis de Sales, the diocesan patron. He fought hard against the Protestant Revolution.
If you see that lady please tell her for me she is my hero, and that I believe her reward in heaven will be great. Ask her to please help me get in when I am outside the gates begging St. Peter. If we had one Cardinal with that zeal for God we would have what we need, for this heretic pope to be identified as such and with clarity and force. Then we will have a schism, because the sheep and the goats will all pull to one definite side. We are already lined up in our places, who is still not sure of where they need to be? Everybody knows their place.
The Lord knows best what we need. May He not tarry in providing it.
The Abomination is well and truly in the Holy Sanctuary.
Wow. I just read the Fatima page article by Ferrara. It looks like Burke and the remaining Dubia cardinals have thrown in the towel. I guess the thought of losing their “Red Hats” is simply too much to bear along with their pensions. Hell is a road paved smoothly with good intentions. I guess Burke had these same “intentions.”
To quote Victor Lazlo from Casablanca: “Welcome back to the fight…”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDm3qr3Zlu0
Chris Ferrara that is…….
A couple of comments. First, regarding Burke’s comment and second, regarding Chris Ferrara’s comment:
“Well, on the one hand it is an interpretative problem. On the other hand, it certainly is a problem of application. – Burke”
Sound familiar folks? Vatican II was also so-called “misinterpreted”.
“Cardinal Burke is now part of the problem with AL..”
Now Chris? No, what you mean to say is that it is NOW that YOU are first starting to realize that he is part of the problem. Burke has ALWAYS been part of the problem because he is also a non-Catholic and man of the Vatican II Council. Every Catholic who thought otherwise needs to wake the heck up.
Don’t be too hard on this priest . He is dyslexic
“It is my hope that incidents like these will move at least some of them to look at the Novus Ordo itself a bit more critically”
I do too Louie, but I think most if not all will look at this as another “abuse”. I think Francis’ antics are much more likely to move them, and if that hasn’t happened already then deacons wearing dog masks won’t do a darn thing.
Another great article, Louie. The traditional mass has recently been described as, “Breathtakingly beautiful”. Also, ” The most beautiful thing this side of Heaven”. And indeed it is. The NO mass, is of course the exact opposite. I believe that it is Satan’s crowning work. No matter how reverently it is celebrated, it is still a pig with lipstick. It is a deadly poison which must be avoided at all costs. One day, it will be anathematized by Holy Church but till then we fight on.
There is a NETFLIX series entitled ,”Who killed Sr Kathy (or Cathy I’m not sure). If you can rent it and watch all the episodes ,you might be enlightened about your Bishop and his policies regarding clerical pederasty in the past.
I personally feel he would not get a penny of our donations and was disgusted to see he was made a Bishop.
Ahhh, but a young priest just chastised me on the telephone and told me because of my pride God will punish me at my judgement, I was so stunned I spoke to a rather well known priest friend who advised me to run from any priest who believed himself to be God. I also confided in a very wise friend who knows everything we have experienced. My friend consoled me by reminding me that the words of Absolution in Confession have also been changed just like the Mass
I thought about that for a long while remembering an assistant for an Exorcist who had asked me to obtain the Old Rite of Excorcism for him. He was having great difficulty with a case.
More recently, I heard Fr Ripperger of the Society of Exorcists mention in a video the Old Rite is more effective in his opinion.
Interesting . I wonder what that youthful priest would say about that? Prideful ?
Thanks for the tip. My husband refuses to give any money to the diocese. I wondered why. I just wasn’t into that research. The real problem is with our parish, run by Oblates of St. Francis de Sales. If I could, I would try to get them to have a TLM once in a while and adoration. But if they won’t even address my valid concerns with regard to the parish census, then I don’t know how I could get them to listen to TLM arguments.
This incident gives evidence of the effeminate Novus Order being supplanted by the masculine sport of football. Statistics show an enormous increase in interest in football since the time of Vatican II (https://www.vox.com/2014/10/14/6951261/sports-maps-charts). This increase offsets the enormous loss of Christian faith during the same time frame. The US is now a Football nation. It’s no wonder professional football games are played on Sunday.
I am not sure about consecration happening at NO rite, but either way you slice it, the outcome is bad: No consecration = droves failing to receive the graces they are expecting (if they receive worthily) and the consequences of it being very difficult for many Catholics to find a TLM, but at least those seeking to receive communion while remaining in mortal sin are not committing sacrilege. If consecration is occurring, at least those seeking to receiving worthily, (even if their blinders are still on) can, but COUNTLESS acts of sacrilegious communion have occurred as well.
I know many of you have the consecration vs. no valid consecration figured out for yourselves, but I’m still working it out. I just try to stick to the TLM as my remedy.
crawler: Speaking of football, I recently looked up the salaries of my state’s employees and the head football coach of one of the state universities made over $3-1/2 million dollars in 2016 and the other made $2,886,000 while the president of one of those universities salary was $776,000 and the other’s was $714,300 while the governor’s salary was only $172,500.
The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass that was celebrated until Pope Pius XII made changes to Holy Week was the Mass you describe. These changes were the beginning of the destruction of the Mass as they gave the heretics the green light to invent the Novus Ordo which they intended to become an ever-changing worship (of man) service according to the changes in cultures.
Uh, have you followed what has happened to the NFL this year. The bottom has fallen out on attendance and ESPN viewership has cratered. Your stats are 2014. Taking a knee—ironically—in 2016-17 has burst the bubble of football as a viable replacement for religion.
Bingo. All men of the vatican 2 religion, and therefore deniers of the Catholic Faith, are part of the problem. If there is a Cardinal alive today who isnt a part of that false vatican 2 religion I surely dont know his name.
Thank God that we still have a handful of true Bishops left (and Im not even counting the V2 leaning SSPX ones; yeah they are valid but they are tilting the wrong way).
rich–I agree. July 2018 will be a defining moment for the SSPX. If Fellay is re-elected, it will be business as usual (or worse) for the SSPX. If a new Superior General is elected, it will be a “wait and see” moment with at least some hope. I’m not sure if this is true, but I read somewhere that the results of the election must be ratified by Rome. Have you heard anything about this? If it’s true–than it will be business as usual no matter what.
I posted this as a reply of clarification to “Jacobum”s” comment about how nasty the comments have become on this blog . I assumed he may have been referring to my comment about Skojak’s blog thoughts. I expressed my thoughts rather poorly.
The point I was attempting to convey was that some converts who came to the Catholic Church during the reign of Pope JP 2 and joined one of the Movements became Catholic celebrities in their own right by design , teaching others what it means to be Catholic. The Movements in most instances funded their endeavors.
LC and OD purchased popular internet media outlets.
I give you as an example Mr Scott Hahn of OD who ,in one of his writings, had the enlightened notion to tell us the Holy Ghost was female.
It is precisely these converts that the Movements i.e. the Legion/Regnum Christi and Opus were fond of recruiting simply because they knew they would not get a Traditionalist Catholic arguments confronting their novelties.
I repeat , this was by design. This is why I do not place much credibility in more recent converts who became popular writers, speakers or internet video personalities that are linked to one of the Movements of so called New Evangelization .
The only valid bishops that exist are in their 90s minimum and are underground. They are the ones who didn’t apostasize by signing any Vatican II documents and were put in place by Pius XII.
Lefebvre signed Vatican II docs – it’s on record for all to see.
Let the reader of good will understand exactly where we stand at present, and all related implications.
I don’t see that comment from Jacobum. He’s somehow deleted it?
In any event, we live in the nastiest of all ages. In this nasty age of falsification of all things, getting real–getting REALLY real–often requires being less than nice as a form of shock treatment. We’re not only called to be innocent as doves, but also to be wise as SERPENTS. Chew on that.
For example, suicidally xenophilic white ethnomasochists of all kinds–from avowed liberals to pitiful cuckservatives–will be jarred out their burning fantasy of being eternally gang-raped by Paco, Jamal, and Abdul as the ultimate form of virtue-signaling only by getting real–REALLY real–about what this really entails. Thus I always recommend that cucks–whether they be avowed liberals or pitiful, pitiful cuckservatives–read Alexander Hart’s Vdare essay entitled “Cuckservatism: The Cuckoo in the Conservative Movement’s Nest” and that they especially read the essay linked within that essay; that is, the priceless essay by Jared Taylor entitled “An Open Letter to Cuckservatives.” I recommend they read this latter essay 1,000 times, so steeped are cucks of every kind–from avowed liberals to pitiful cuckservatives to cowardly CatholiCucks–in the propaganda of suicidally xenophilic white ethnomasochist oikophobia. They have to read it 1,000 times to possibly–but probably not–really absorb it, to get past–possibly, but probably not–their Pavlovian impulse to cry RAAAAAAACCCCCIIISSSST and to get real–really real. Alas, their conditioning likely runs too deep at this point to overcome it without actually experiencing the horrific reign of the feculent Paco, Jamal, and Abdul. Indeed, only the fool MUST learn through experience. Such, I fear, are cucks.
And let’s note that Louie himself has get “nasty” sometimes. It’s the only way to cut through today’s ubiquitous static of lies and deception.
I suspect that Louie deleted it. I had seen Jacobum’s post before it gt deleted and was hoping to ask him what posts he considered “nasty”. Because if someone is going to accuse others of being “nasty” that person should be specific in his/her accusations.
But, but, but…..Michael Matt kept assuring us for two years what a hero Burke was…..
Hooray for truth in advertizing. Everyone can at last see how the liturgy has gone to the dogs.
Jacobums comment is on the previous article about St Carlo of Bologna.
That makes sense. My impression is that Louie very rarely deletes comments.
Simple, I think you mean valid AND licit. The four SSPX Bishops are valid. Just not licit according to the V2 modernist. Are you suggesting that Bishops consecrated without authority are not valid. Also there are still Eastern Eparchs that are valid and Catholic.
Unlike Big Brother at the Remnant.
Ooops…my bad.
I’ve just seen Jacobum’s comment. It’s true. I’m seething with anger. Limp-wristed traitorous sellouts of every kind make me sick. I should probably take a break.
On the other hand, I’m now reading this:
The Necessity of Righteous Anger
http://faithandheritage.com/2017/06/the-necessity-of-righteous-anger/
That depends on whether an apostate or a schismatic can be considered a member of the Church. Can they? Even if so, without a valid Pope having “sent” him, he has no jurisdiction.
Regarding jurisdiction, one might want to make a careful study of the following works:
1) Supplied Jurisdiction According to Canon 209, by Father Francis Sigismund Miaskiewicz, 1940, Inprimatur
(For example, one requirement of its use is the condition of Common Error, and no one can say that Sedes or SSPX do not know and/or are not told that their bishops do not possess jurisdiction).
2) The History, Nature, and Use of Epikeia in Moral Theology, by Father Lawrence Joseph Riley, 1948, Imprimatur, The Catholic University of America Press.
(P. 344: “In short, it may be concluded that in regard to matters which touch the essence of the Sacraments, the use of Epikeia is always excluded.” And “At most, Epikeia can excuse the individual from the precept, but it can never confer the capacity to act. Epikeia cannot bestow upon him the power which he does not now possess, nor can Epikeia restore the power which the law has withdrawn. For such bestowal or restoration of power a positive act is required.” (i.e. Epikeia can NEVER confer the capacity to a bishop to perform the act of consecrating another bishop without a papal mandate, and therefore it can never bestow upon anyone authority, jurisdiction, or mission in the Catholic Church.)
Simple, I understand “jurisdiction” and authority to act. What confuses me is that it seems you are also saying that a disobedient or schismatic valid Bishop does not confer the sacrament of Holy Orders unless he has a papal mandate or some sort of supplied jurisdiction. Is that what you are implying?

Demonic! The Church Sanctuary is reserved for only one “celebration”–The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. They say there are no tears in Heaven, but even the Saints in Heaven would shed a tear over this. I hope and pray Our Lord will remit time in purgatory for faithful Catholics who are suffering through this horror.
May I add: Anyone even remotely connected to the V2 “church” and Modernist Rome is responsible for this—–and I mean “everyone”!
Hello Tom,
Please re-read the quotes I provided above, and then explain to me how SSPX bishops are valid.
For the record: I am not a Sedevacantist. That is a non-Catholic sect. Nor am I a Novus Ordo, or a “Trad”, which are the same. I am a Roman Catholic following Tradition in strict Justice, not making my own rules as each of the sects do, nor following my own will, but relying on Holy Mother Church and the true Popes of yesterday.
As a Roman Catholic I know my Shepherd’s Voice, and I follow the laws of His true Church. I recognize the “signs of the times”, and have connected the dots by begging for the Grace to know the Truth of these matters in our day. I recognize the hour is very late, and that many of the prophecies which people seem to think are for now, or the future, have in fact already come to pass and have been in full swing for many decades now.
I recognize that curing blindness is God’s work – not mine. As prophecies have foretold, the flock is extremely tiny, and I can only hope and pray that I am part of the tiny flock – the One True Church.
It’s time for me to go, and to further obey Holy Mother Church by avoiding things that would have been listed on the list of “Forbidden Books”, as She knows confusion and heresy in all forms is a great danger to ones soul and ultimately an occasion of sin.
I do thank Louie for having been gracious in his allowance of discussion, as it helped me along my path.
May God have mercy on us all.
“My mission will end when on earth no longer be celebrated the Mass.” -L’ultima Messa di Padre Pio; Padre Pio confided to Luigi Peroni, director of his prayer groups p. 9 & 18.
Simple Beggar, it is my understanding that SSPX bishops are valid because they were ordained by valid bishops. Yes it was all done illicitly and without a conciliar papal mandate. The conciliar church and even the Church prior to 1958 considered the Eastern Orthodox Orders valid. The Church even considered English Orders valid, until they weren’t. So I am a bit confused Simple, are you saying ordinations are not valid without also being licit?
