There was, and perhaps still is, a popular line of thought among conservative Catholics that is based on the presumption that the crisis in the Church will subside once death comes to call on the last of those who had some personal connection to the Council; the so-called “biological solution.”
Back in 2012, several months before Pope Benedict XVI fled for fear of the wolves, Fr. Z wrote, for example:
The aging-hippies and their koolaid-drinking apprentices have awakened to the fact that they are losing many of their precious gains of the last few decades of their iron-fisted control. They are getting a little jittery … The spread of the use of the older form of Holy Mass is slow, but steady. On the other hand, the Biological Solution is at work. We will see, soon, a sharp upward curve in both trends.
Today as I write (with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight) it appears obvious just how wrong the conservative prognosticators were.
If, in fact, the bitter experience of life under the yoke of Jorge Bergolgio tells us anything about the future it’s that they may have had it exactly backwards.
What the soothsayers perhaps failed to consider is that the “biological solution” is active on all fronts:
You see, while men like Karl Rahner, Edward Schillebeeckx, and Leo Joseph Suenens have gone to their eternal reward, so too have men like Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre, Cardinal Alfredo Ottaviani, and Cardinal Antonio Bacci.
The effect that this is having on the hierarchy is now being realized in the present reign of terror under Francis who said:
I am the first pope who didn’t take part in the Council and the first who studied theology after the Council and, at that time, for us the great light was Paul VI.
Now, for a dose of reality: The one thing that all of the future popes will have in common is that each one will have cut their Catholic teeth on the fruits of the Council; raised in the age of endless dialogue, and formed in the new theology.
Sure, men like Cardinal Raymond Burke and Bishop Athanasius Schneider will still be around, but if we’re honest we must admit that they are an anomaly, and truth be told, both are infected in some degree or another with the conciliar disease as well.
What’s more, just as death does not discriminate, neither does the diabolical disorientation of which Our Lady forewarned. As I’ve written in the past, no one is entirely immune to it; not even the aforementioned Cardinal Ottaviani.
This being so, if odds makers were able to accurately formulate an early line on papabile for the next several conclaves to come, the favorites would almost certainly look a whole lot more like Blaise Cupich than any one of the Dubia Brothers.
Let that sink-in for just a moment…
All of this, of course, is contingent upon the absence of divine intervention; the only solution that truly matters.
Our Lady of Fatima, ora pro nobis!
As I continue to view and measure all things through the solitary lens of Catholic tradition (not in view of my popularity, my friendships, or any other affiliation), the price to be paid increases. So too does the value of your support for aka Catholic.
If the next conclave happens before 2020 it will be Cardinal Schonborn and it it happens after 2020 it will be Cardinal Tagle.
I always thought the “biological solution” was ridiculous for anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of the world.
For example, trads like to extol Poland for the fact that abortion is illegal there. Ok. But they have the lowest fertility rate in Europe at just 1.3. They are rapidly depopulating.
As long as the “throw away culture” exists, there will be no biological solution for either side.
So very true, Louie. The modernists are still firmly in control and have no intention of letting go. Their motto is the same as the masonic motto ( which many prelates probably are); The soldier dies, the war goes on. Their aim is not the physical destruction of the Church, but the spiritual one. They can see victory just down the road and are more encouraged than ever. One thing they have not planned for though, is the intervention of God. Bad mistake, as they will find out.
Thanks Louie for putting a pall over my weekend with visions of Pope Blase. The absolute most desolate choice in my opinion. Absolutely bleak.
As usual–and understandably–most regard the Catholic Church as those who occupy real estate belonging to what has heretofore been considered the Church. The modernists are not the Church. They are not Catholics. They are, more than likely, not saved. Whoever is “elected” to head this new religion/sect will no more be the Church than Jorge is now. Find a Latin Mass, SSPX parish/chapel and remain faithful. Many have been called but, apparently, very, very few will be chosen from here on out. Don’t worry about who will be the next pope. Worry about whether or not you will be one of the few. That path has clearly been outlined by Our Lord.
Yes Trad Professor, I am relocating to a geographic area served by the SSPX because there are no other traditional parishes within a 6 hour drive of my current location. I mourn for the massive apostasy around me.
Blase will never be Pope of the Catholic Church. Maybe he will be of the conciliar church, but never will he be the Vicar of Christ.
I used to think Fr Z was the bomb. Now I think he’s a dud.
The modernist are in control of the modernist conciliar church. Do not let that worry you. They will never be in control of the indefectible Catholic Church no matter what nonsense ACT et al spews.
He know where his bread is buttered.
I think he was once trying to petition Pope John Paul II to be declared a Doctor of the Church.
Priests can only say so much. Fr. Z provides lots of great information about the Sacraments, Liturgy, prayer, and other helpful insights, but he cannot lead the charge on this debacle in the Chair of Peter without disastrous fallout. While I would love to see priests leading a charge against these stinking heretics, I’m not convinced an individual can do much. I’m not at all sure four Cardinals can do much. I’d be happy if they would call PF a heretic and say why, then call an imperfect council.
But, things are not looking good, Brothers and Sisters, they just aren’t. At least not for the human intervention dynamic. Let’s put our hope on the supernatural one. Lord, come to our rescue, make haste to help us. Our Lady of Lourdes, ora pro nobis.
The way I see it, the greatest problem and biggest single obstacle to overcome in the Church right now is not Pope Francis, Amoris Laetitia, the B. Cupich’s of the Church or the so-called “Gallen Mafia”, but the “canonization” of Pope John Paul II. This is like the 500 lb. Gorilla in the room and as of yet, as far as I know, NOT EVEN ONE Bishop or Cardinal has been willing to recognize this problem, not even the pro-Dubia Cardinals or bishops, in fact, if anything they actually go out of their way in praising PJPII. So I really don’t have much hope in finding solutions any time soon without some type of Divine intervention or miracle.
I disagree, they could do a lot by finally admitting Arch. LeFebvre was right all along about the disastrous direction the Church was taking and that if Pope John Paul II didn’t wrongly “excommunicate” him to begin with we wouldn’t be dealing with the idiotic “Amoris Laetitia.” That’s why I can’t take any of these Cardinals or this dubia stuff seriously. To me it’s a bunch of garbage. They act like Pope Francis is just the beginning of the problem. PJPII, who they continue to call “GREAT”, obviously needed to get Arch. LeFebvre and any one like him out of his way so he could start building this nightmare of a Church we now have today. PJ2, WE LUV U.
As far as I understand, canonisations are infallible. To revoke the canonisation of JPII would be to declare Francis an antipope in the same breath. I hope it happens.
I think you will shortly see that this decision will be one of the greatest events in your life. May God bless your endeavours.
The many called/few chosen is in the Gospel for Septuagesima this weekend.
These priests and bishops can up and leave Novus Ordo land anytime they please. They choose to remain in communion with error.
That’s the million dollar question: Are canonizations infallible?http://www.lastampa.it/2014/07/10/vaticaninsider/eng/the-vatican/are-canonizations-infallible-r2aK5PypZe95tWoFf53v8K/pagina.html
well they decanonized St. Ursula and St. Christopher ???
I don’t believe that. I thank that when Francis dies, there will be a reaction like there was with Obama. The next Pope will need to, not remove red hats, he will need to laicize some bishops and Cardinals.
Our hope is in Our Lady. If we are graced by God’s TRUE mercy this year, He will send the warning, and if we don’t repent, His wrath.
Do you prefer all the good guys in black condemn Francis? You will not have a faithful priest left in the Church. In the best situation, they will all be in hospital ministry, or sent off to a psyc institution to finish their priesthood.
Better they speak the truth and act as if Francis does not exist so they can provide the sacraments and solid teaching to those who will listen.
I am not disputing what you said, but if you could provide a valid link Id appreciate it. I find it hard to believe that in all of Europe Poland has the lowest birth rate at 1.3; I may very well be wrong though.
News flash: the next conciliar conclave will elect a modernist.
After posting I realized that I failed to consider the muslim invasion of most other European countries. As they generally dont engage in birth control, and are vehemently against abortion…..and their births contribute to the European data….then you may be right.
Deuteronomy 23:17
None of the daughters of Israel shall be a temple prostitute; none of the sons of Israel shall be a temple prostitute.
Psalm 79
1 O God, the nations have come into your inheritance;
they have defiled your holy temple;
they have laid Jerusalem in ruins
Who did? Why the Novus Ordo Church, that’s who.
People who try to say canonisations are not infallible are only trying to keep the post conciliar claimants to the Papacy on the chair. They know there’s no way canonisations could be infallible if men like Roncalli and Wojtyla are canonised, and the wretched Montini is in the pipeline. They know as well as anyone.
I can only take some small comfort in the fact that the cardinals will likely never elect an American.
Assuming this world is still around in another hundred years or so, you never know.
The number of cardinals for a conclave is 120 as I understand. There have been 56 new cardinals created so far about 19 a year. I do not know the mentality of most of them, but few are obvious as mentioned above. This Pope is working hard to make sure there is no break in the chain of modernism as his legacy. Divine intervention seems to be a more possible remedy for our situation. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cardinals_created_by_Francis
Obviously correct. The current cardinals and bishops who are all sons of v2 cannot correct a pope who is also a son of v2, for the purpose of returning to the True Faith of Christ. The very imagining of something like this happening, by any sane person, is just idiotic.
There is only one sad but logical conclusion as to why there was a crisis in the Church to begin with and that is the majority never really believed in the true faith. If they had, they would have done everything in their power to resist the demonic machinations that simply parelled those that destroyed the Catholic religion in England, Germany and France in their Revolutions. Instead, most joined with the principalities and powers and rulers of darkness that allowed the new Revolution to expand and destroy many more souls.
There isn’t a soul attached to the new, revolutionary, Modernist/Ecumenical church who hasn’t compromised or denied one, some or all of the dogmatic and/or Traditional teachings of the Catholic Church. They cannot serve two masters; they have chosen to serve man over and above God in one way or another. This includes those cardinals who have clung to one of the true teachings of the Church, while at the same time, as members of this counterfeit church, still teach, preach, defend and worship the Revolution in all of its other manifestations, particularly the false teachings of ecumenism, religious liberty, and the man-invented, man-centered Novus Ordo.
Heretics and apostates cannot be expected to promote and defend the true faith. They have chosen to reject Christ and His Church and outside of divine intervention in each individual’s soul, they will continue on their path to perdition, taking many souls with them.
Katherine! You get it! I would add to the list of damned those who continue to confuse the faithful by their legalese to accept the apostate church as the true Catholic Church.
