For a non-Jew, any attempt to discover what the Talmud actually states is likely to end in frustration. Unless, of course, one happens to be well-versed in Hebrew and Aramaic, but even then, there’s no guarantee that the truth can be found.
Wait! Surely reliable translations are available, no?
Indeed, there are plenty of translations out there, along with scores of commentaries. Reliable ones, however? Not so much.
The reason for this is simple: The persons for whom those texts were written – Jews seeking instruction on matters of Jewish law, ethics, customs, etc. – don’t really want non-Jews like us to know exactly what those texts have to say. And for good reason.
But don’t take it from me.
Rabbi Eliezer Diamond, PhD, Associate Professor of Talmud and Rabbinics at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York, provides some background:
The Christians really didn’t know much about the Talmud. Why should they? It was in Aramaic and Hebrew. There weren’t too many Hebraists around, but in the 13th century, through a number of [Jewish] apostates, who ‘knew where the bodies were buried’ so to speak – in other words, they knew about passages in the Talmud that Christians would find problematic, including passages that insulted Jesus – they shared the existence of these passages with the [Catholic] clerics, who are [then] infuriated.
As an example of Talmudic texts that are offensive to Christians, Rabbi Diamond tells us:
The Talmud contains blasphemies against Jesus. The Talmud says that Jesus is in Hell and his punishment is to be immersed in boiling excrement.
Interestingly, Rabbi Diamond rightly describes this as blasphemy, which is well understood by both Christians and Jews as an offense against Almighty God. This is no small admission.
Consider that Israeli Chasidic Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz, who is very well known in Jewish circles for having been prominent in the Chabad movement and for his work, Steinsaltz edition of the Talmud, said of the ancient text:
It’s a central pillar for understanding anything about Judaism, more than the Bible. The Talmud is not a divine gift given to people. The Jewish people created it. But on the other hand, it created the Jewish people. In so many ways, we’re Talmudic Jews, whether we believe in it or not. (The Times Of Israel, August 9, 2012)
And here we have the esteemed American Talmudic scholar, Rabbi Eliezer Diamond, openly admitting that this text – a central pillar of contemporary so-called Judaism – contains offenses against the Almighty. It’s enough to make one wonder if perhaps the Truth is pressing Himself upon Diamond’s conscience.
In any case, Rabbi Diamond continued:
As a result, in 1240, the Christian clerics and royalty called Jewish leaders to a disputation and, basically, it was an interrogation of the rabbis, citing these problematic passages and asking them to account for that. We’ll see that the rabbis had to do some fancy dancing to account for that.
That was nearly eight-hundred years ago and the rabbis are still dancing. So too are any number of other Jews, including scholars, educators, and journalists. We’ll come back to this point momentarily.
The above commentary from Rabbi Diamond is taken from the video below, which is cued to begin at the operative point.
Notice the title to the presentation: Portions of the Talmud are deliberately hidden and suppressed, and it’s not because these anti-Christian teachings no longer inform the attitudes of certain Jews in our day, but rather because they do.
Rabbi Diamond deserves a great deal of credit for his honesty and willingness to speak unpopular truths aloud. (Another clue that his conscience is being prodded.) This sort of plainspokenness is a rare commodity, not just in Talmudic studies, but in academia and scientific endeavors more broadly.
Rabbi Diamond went on to discuss another disputation, this one in 1263, after which, he says, “a process of censorship and destruction of volumes of the Talmud” began.
Illustrating the point, he showed viewers an ancient portion of the Babylonian Talmud, saying:
This page is from the only complete manuscript of the Babylonian Talmud that we have, and this particular page is from Sanhedrin 43b, which contains the story about the Sanhedrin executing Jesus. Now, in the place where that story should appear, you will see that lines have been erased, either by some Church censor or the Jews themselves, realizing that if some Christian discovers this story being present…
Rabbi Diamond does not weigh-in on who he believes erased those lines, but he did acknowledge the following:
If you look at a standard printed Talmud today, none of these passages appears in the Talmud. It’s only now that in some printed editions they’re being restored.
In other words, even today, Talmudic texts are being hidden and suppressed by those who, realizing that if some Christian discovers exactly what they say, well, then, the devil will be out of the bag for all to see.
At this, consider a current example of Talmudic subterfuge.
Those who watched the first installment of The Zionist Deception on the akaCatholic Podcast may recall that it included a screen shot (left) taken from the website My Jewish Learning, where an article was published called, “The Seven Genders in the Talmud.”
Now, I had referenced that same article in the past, and I seemed to recall that it spoke about not seven, but rather eight genders.
Oh, well, I thought, I must be mistaken.
More recently, however, I had occasion to revisit that same article; I wanted to share a citation from the text, namely, the part that talks about those born male but who take on female characteristics due to human intervention. But guess what? It wasn’t there.
Now this, I knew, was not a matter of me being mistaken. I distinctly recalled reading (and commenting upon) that verbiage in the article. This being so, I went about searching for an archived version on the “Wayback Machine,” and the first thing I noticed was the URL:
myjewishlearning.com/article/the-eight-genders-in-the-talmud/
Aha, so it did mention eight genders after all!
What happened is perfectly plain: The editors of the My Jewish Learning website – which was founded by billionaire Democrat insider, Edgar Bronfman Sr., in 2002 – did some fancy dancing of their own, but they failed to change the URL to match the new title and content.
And why did they do this?
As the screenshots above suggest, they evidently became concerned that some Christians (like us, for example) might come to realize that the rebellion against the Creator known as transgenderism – that is, males (females) “developing the characteristics” of females (males) “through human intervention” – has deep Talmudic roots. (See numbers 6 and 8 in the graphic on the right.)
In other words, steps were taken to see to it that the newly edited article (which replaced the original at some point in February) no longer speaks of what, in our day, consists of sexual mutilation and hormone poisoning, all too often, of children.
It would seem that the editors of the My Jewish Learning website realize – at least on some level, even if only subconsciously for now – that pioneering the transgender movement is not something about which one should openly brag, but rather is it so nefarious that it must be cloaked in just enough darkness to allow for plausible deniability.
This, my friends, is the hallmark of things diabolical.
