The altar prepared for Solemn High Mass for the Feast of the Kingship of Our Lord Jesus Christ at St. Alphonsus in Baltimore.
During the opening procession, an incredibly beautiful statue of Christ the King was carried in and left in the sanctuary during Mass. Here it is being carried out. Perhaps not easy to see (much easier to hear!), but note the presence of so many young restorationist families.

VIVAT CHRISTUS REX!
Absolutely wonderful! Unfortunately I’m stuck with Fr. Feelgood @ the superfunrockband church of jazz hands….. no mention of Christ the King.
It’s no laughing matter, Steve, but “jazz hands” made me laugh out loud. Sorry, brother.
Thank you, Mr. V.
Beautiful!..Ours was as well . If you`re ever in the Boston Archdiocese, visit Mary Immaculate of Lourdes Newton/Needham. Pastor : Father Charles Jeremiah Higgins. It is a regular occurrence to have at least twenty altar boys in attendance…Sundays Mass at 10:30 is always a Latin High Mass. The choir is something to be experienced …they`re over the top. This Parish is well worth the travel time as some come from as far away as New Hampshire.Check the website for photos of the Pontifical High Mass on Oct 17, for Blessed Karl I offered by Bishop De Faria. http://www.maryimmaculatenewton.org
Steve, that’s probably because Christ the King falls at the beginning of Advent on the Novus Ordo calendar–about a month later.
@Louie, No worries man. Humor is how I cope.
@Nathan, Yes sir, I am aware. I was being facetious. Although, I’ve been on the Feast itself in the novus ordo, and I’m yet to hear it mentioned. Not quite “jazzy hands” enough, I do fear.
Thanks for this post.
Christus Vincit, Christus Regnat, Christus Imperat!
Christ Conquers, Christ Reigns, Christ Rules!
Christus Rex is one of my favorite days of the year. I have a tradition of driving to southern Indiana to attend Mass at an FSSP parish in the country and then meet up with several old friends. Southern Indiana this time of the year is breathtakingly beautiful.
Southern Indiana… FSSP… I’m thinking Ss Philomena & Cecilia Catholic Church in Oak Forest.
@Rick That’s the one.
