Trad, Inc. Confirms: St. Peter’s is violated

Louie, October 7, 2025October 7, 2025

Following the LGBTQ+ invasion of St. Peter’s Basilica on September 6, I posted portions of the 1917 Code of Canon Law that address such despicable acts. In short:

A church is violated by impious and sordid use. A violated church is to undergo a rite of reconciliation as quickly as possible according to the Ceremonial of Bishops. It is nefarious to minister the Sacraments or even to celebrate the divine office in a violated church until such time as it has been properly reconciled. (cf Canons 1172 – 1174)

At the time, many tradservatives were celebrating the news that Cardinal Burke has been granted permission to offer the TLM on St. Peter’s main altar on October 25. This, they suggested, was a hopeful sign that Leo will be more accommodating of tradition than his predecessor.

But then the violation happened.

I suggested in the abovementioned post that we will soon find out whether or not Trad Inc. even recognized that St. Peter’s has been truly violated, not to mention the fact that the Basilica presently stands in need of a proper rite of reconciliation.

In other words, it remained to be seen if they would choose to play Zip-It for fear of poking Leo the Modernist Lion.

Well, it seems that we now have our answer.

As posted at the Remnant website, this past weekend’s Catholic Identity Conference featured an “Act of Reparation for the Desecration of the Jubilee Year and St Peter’s Basilica by LGBTQ+ Activists,” led by Bishop Athanasius Schneider, along with Bishops Marian Eleganti, Robert Mutsaerts, and Joseph Strickland.

The prayer itself is rather lengthy. Interested readers can check it out there. Here, I will share some relevant highlights.

The prayer referred to the LGBT event as “the abomination perpetrated in the Eternal City” wherein activists “proudly advocated for the legitimization of sodomy, fornication and other sins against the Sixth Commandment.” It went on to equate the Basilica’s invasion as an example of “the enemy [that] has done wickedly in the sanctuary,” words taken from the Psalms.

The prayer begged “Lord have mercy,” specifically for and in light of, among other things, “The complicity of the authorities of the Holy See.”

At this, a number of things stand out…

Fornication is mentioned right alongside sodomy no less than six times, both of which are a matter of serious sin, of course. That said, they are not, however, equal in gravity given that sodomy has the distinction of being a sin against nature. Even if only inadvertently, the prayer as written may give one the opposite impression.

One also notes that the prayer offers reparation in several places for attacks against marriage, at which point Amoris Laetitia immediately comes to mind.

The prayer also seeks reparation for the blessing of same-sex couples. In so doing, it necessarily draws one’s attention to Fiducia Supplicans.

No one other than Leo (at least insofar as Trad, Inc. is concerned) is capable of negating or otherwise correcting these abominable texts. To their presumable dismay, however…

Less than one month after his election, Leo chose to quote directly from Amoris Laetitia, thus signaling its permanence among other conciliar magisterial [sic] acts.

In July, Cardinal “Mouth Heeler” Fernández, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Destruction of the Faith, told reporters that the blessing of same-sex couples “will remain” under Leo XIV, i.e., Fiducia Supplicans is also here to stay.

Recall that, as the title to the Act of Reparation indicates, the “desecration” of St. Peter’s Basilica (violation being the appropriate canonical term) by LGBT activists was its primary purpose.

As such, it is perfectly clear that Trad, Inc. – as represented by the bishops present at the Catholic Identity Conference, along with their gracious host, Michael J. Matt – do indeed recognize that the Basilica now stands in need of reconciliation as quickly as possible, and most certainly prior to October 25 when Cardinal Burke is scheduled to offer the TLM on its main altar.

And yet, despite all that has been said, Leo XIV was not mentioned even once in the nearly one-thousand-word Act of Reparation, much less was he called upon to remedy the situation.

Now, don’t get me wrong, an Act of Reparation in itself is laudable, but with respect to the violation of St. Peter’s Basilica, it is wholly insufficient.

More to the point, the Barons of Trad, Inc. very well know it, but they are either too timid, too fearful, or too dedicated to the success of their own little franchise to confront the situation head on like real men. Rather, each one has thus far chosen to “Zip-It,” a weak and effeminate ploy aimed at currying favor with their abuser in exchange for the occasional liturgical crumb, the glory of Holy Mother Church and Our Lord Jesus Christ be damned.

As I write, October 25th is more than two weeks away.

In the interim, will any of these men, or others like them, muster up the integrity to demand of Cardinal Burke – their de facto leader and hero – that he do whatever is necessary in order to facilitate the reconciliation of St. Peter’s beforehand?
