In November I was privileged to speak at a dinner hosted by Our Lady of Fatima Church (SSPX) in Portland, OR.
In addition to discussing the current crisis in the Catholic Church, this conference (recording below) addresses the stark contrast that exists between Pope St. Pius X and Pope Francis relative to each man’s understanding of the duties that are incumbent upon the Successors of St. Peter.
I’d really like to give more such talks in 2015. At present, I only have three upcoming this year; I’ll give more details as they are confirmed.
If you happen to be part of a group that can handle straight talk rooted in Catholic tradition, or even if you’re part of one that would like to take me to task, consider getting in touch with me to see if we can put something together.
Just terrific Louie! I never tire of hearing our wonderful Popes of the past quoted. Especially Pius X. So fatherly, so clear, almost begging us to be ‘good children’ for the love of Our Lord, and our Holy Mother Church.
—
I remember praying at the tomb of Pius X in St. Peter’s. He’s such a towering figure that I sometimes forget he was saintly in his daily life and duties – he was a real man, a real father.

St. Pius X pray for us
Your November talk clearly prophesied December news reports about the two-hour musical in the Philippines where priests sing and dance while tracing “,,,the life of Jorge Mario Bergoglio from his childhood in Argentina to his election in 2013 as the first Latin American pontiff.” The musical is mostly in English and entitled, “I (heart sign) Pope Francis.” Louie, your are amazing!
Dear Louie,
Enjoyed your talk . and ended up having Italian tonight 🙂 🙂
Then we checked (wicki) to see what became of “Sillon” .
What a trip they took from Pius X to Frances- literally:
–After Pius X’s letter of 25 Aug. 1910, the Sillon organisation dissolved itself.
–But in 1912 it’s founder, Sangnier started a replacement group- the Young Republic League- to promote his vision of social Catholicism.
–They later joined the Union of the Socialist Left, the first alliance between social Christians and Marxists.
— In 1960 They merged with the Autonomous Socialist Party to form the Unified Socialist Party (PSU).
–A long series of mergings took place in the following years…. till in 2012,
They ended up as the new Left for Socialism uniting the 2 mentioned with the Unitarian Left, Federation for a Social and Ecological Alternative, Republic and Socialism, “Convergences” the “Anticapitalist Left”, the “Workers’ Communist Party of France”, and The Alternatives (Les Alternatifs).
==========
Their website sounds like Pope Francis could have written it in his diary:
“A dangerous political confusion is developing. The government is seen as illegitimate on the left, and a major political crisis could break out. A huge gulf separates popular aspirations for change from the operation of the present political system. To prevent right-wing and far-right parties from entering the breach and spreading their reactionary ideas we must find a way to galvanise the working-class movement and the general population.”
___
“numerous resistance movements amongst workers and young people must be allowed to develop freely if we want to gain the upper hand. We have to provide a political perspective which starts from, and empowers, the radical demands of these movements and unleashes a force for emancipation, with the aim of winning a majority for our ideas within society.”
___
–“Working with environmental activists, we must force the authorities ..in Europe to take the measures required to make the ‘energy transition’ with all its industrial consequences, in the light of the latest GIEC world climate warning.” Enough is enough!
___
–We want to build a movement uniting all those left-wing and ‘green’ forces…around our goals of social and ecological transformation and equal rights, and against the narrative which claims that there is no alternative to paying the debt. Our sole purpose is to defend a global project for the Left Front..
— Our objective-create social transformation -an ecological, feminist, internationalist alternative to the logic of capitalism and productivism– a tool for ..popular unity and emancipation.
“The key to the situation lies in the hands of ordinary people.”

Isn’t THAT the truth?. Viva Christo Rey. Ave Maria ora pro nobis.
I can’t say often enough what a treat it is to have a guest speaker such as Louie honor you with a talk. We had a wonderful night. Of course, he drew a good crowd. People came from as for away as Seattle, at least. (150 miles) And they said that it was well worth it. There was great camaraderie, and the pleasure of meeting others of like mind. And of course, it was so good to talk with old friends in a pleasant atmosphere. I certainly encourage anyone to schedule and advertise a talk. It is a great treat, one we don’t have often enough out here in the west. I assure you all, it was much enjoyed! Thank you, Louie! I hope we can do it again before too long!
When thinking about the contrast between Saint Pius X, and our poor Francis, we might keep in mind The Holy Rule of St. Benedict in his chapter on “What Kind of Man the Abbot Ought To Be.” The title Abbot coming from Abba – Father. Here’s what we might think: Pius X was a real father, Francis, not so much.
—
In part, quote: “And therefore the Abbot ought not (God forbid) to teach, or ordain, or command anything contrary to the law of the Lord; but let his bidding and his doctrine be infused in the minds of his disciples like the leaven of divine justice.
—-
“Let the Abbot be ever mindful that at the dreadful judgement of God, an account will have to be given both of his own teaching and of the obedience of his disciples. And let him know that any lack of profit which the father of the household may find in his sheep, shall be imputed to the fault of the shepherd. Only then shall he be acquitted, if he shall have bestowed all pastoral diligence on his unquiet and disobedient flock, and employed all his care to amend their corrupt manner of life: then shall he be absolved in the judgement of the Lord…so at last to those disobedient sheep may their punishment come, overmastering death.
—-
“Therefore when anyone takes the name of Abbot, he ought to govern his disciples by a twofold doctrine: that is, he should show forth all that is good and holy by his deeds, rather than his words: declaring to the intelligent among his disciples the commandments of the Lord by words: but to the hard-hearted and the simple-minded setting forth the divine precepts by the example of his deeds. And let him show by his own actions that those things ought not to be done which he has taught his disciples to be against the law of God…
—-
“For the Abbot in his doctrine ought always to observe the rule of the Apostle, wherein he says: “Reprove, entreat, rebuke”: suiting his action to circumstances, mingling gentleness with severity; showing now the rigour of a master, now the loving affection of a father, so as sternly to rebuke the undisciplined and restless, and to exhort the obedient, mild and patient to advance in virtue. And such as are negligent and haughty we charge him to reprove and correct. Let him not shut his eyes to the faults of offenders; but as soon as they appear, let him strive, as he has the authority for that, to root them out….( the Rule then sets out the punishments that ought to be meted out to the disobedient – not pretty! Like fasting on bread and water, and ‘stripes’!!!)
—-
Our beloved Pope Pius X of happy memory exemplified the true Abbot, Father, of those in his charge. Listening to, and observing, poor Francis we can see that he has lost his way terribly. Let’s ask St. Benedict to help him.
—-
Quotes from that wonderful commentary on the Holy Rule of St. Benedict by Dom Paul Delatte which is available in used copies even now. Even those who are not Oblates will find this a treasure of wisdom, and exhortation to holiness in a tried and true way.
Dear Barbara,
In this current situation, we’re like the abused children of mentally ill or alcoholic parents who are forced into role-reversal at a very young age, and find themselves feeling old before their time.
__
We can accept it as the will of God for our lives, as just punishment for our sins, and an offering for others; but we are understandably somewhat nostalgic and resentful about that time of childhood we didn’t get to experience because someone who was supposed to protect and guide us through it, ended up doing grave harm to us, instead.
__
May God continue to heal our wounds, and keep us strong till He comes in Glory.
Another very sad comparison (you started this, Louie!). This time between Pius IX and poor Francis.
—-
In 1871 the Coeur D’Alene Indians sent a letter to their Father, Pius IX (through their Jesuit missionary). In this letter they said: “Moreover, having come from our various camps to assemble in the mission church, we have for nine days said many prayers and performed acts of virtue which we offer to the Heart of Jesus for thee. This morning we counted our acts and devotions and found they numbered 120,527. Judging this insufficient, we offered our own hearts for our excellent Father, the Pope in the assured belief that this offering will not be rejected.” These ‘little ones’ go on to say they have many warriors and if they can be of service to the Father in his tribulations they would willingly shed their blood for him.
—-
What was Pope Pius IX response: in part “…we accept with deep feelings of gratitude the offering of your generous charity…and as a token of our gratitude and paternal favour we give you from our heart our apostolic benediction.” This is from an article in the current issue of Catholic Family News and the whole story can be found in “The Life of Father de Smet” by Father E. Laveille, S.J.
—-
How sad when we see poor Francis spurning the gift of 3000+ Rosaries that were offered for his intentions sometime last year.
—-
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be. Amen
Dear Barbara,
Thank you for this post as well. — powerful messages.
“poor” Francis, indeed – apparently unable to discern the difference
between poverty of spirit, and spiritual impoverishment. .
Those Coeur d”Alene fellows sound like a lot of pickle-pussed restorationists to me.
Yeah, but those fellows would have probably buried a tomahawk into the skulls of anyone who trashed their innocent faith – but then Good Father de Smet had already taught them that Our Lord allows the weeds to flourish with the wheat. Thanks for the laugh.

Dallas Area Catholic has a very good post from the 15th – ERROR HAS NO RIGHTS!!!
Dear Barbara and LeGrandDerangement,
This dramatically highlights one of THE MOST disturbing aspects of Pope Francis’ thinking. And, LGD, we think your reference deserves to be seen in it’s fullness:
–Pope Francis said,”
“I share with you two concerns. One is the Pelagian current that there is in the Church at this moment. There are some restorationist groups. I know some, it fell upon me to receive them in Buenos Aires. And one feels as if one goes back 60 years! Before the Council… One feels in 1940..”
__
He continued, “…, just to illustrate this, it is not to laugh at it, I took it with respect, but it concerns me; when I was elected, I received a letter from one of these groups, and they said: “Your Holiness, we offer you this spiritual treasure: 3,525 rosaries.”
–Why don’t they say, ‘we pray for you, we ask…’, but this thing of counting… And these groups return to practices and to disciplines that I lived through – not you, because you are not old – to disciplines, to things that in that moment took place, but not now, they do not exist today.”
=======
“I was respectful” he said.-obviously pointing out to his listeners that he FELT the opposite, but restrained himself so as not to appear ungrateful…
–He then explains why the practice of counting prayers for a “spiritual bouquet”
is so DISTURBING to him that he would liken it to the Pelagian Heresy:
[the dangerous, false belief that original sin did not taint human nature, and that mortal man’s will is capable of choosing good or evil without special Divine aid, enough to live a sinless life]
— and since it is so serious, he feels the driving need to lecture anyone who would be ignorant enough to imitate such a heinous practice of the past as counting up prayers -even if it were only 60 years ago when he was young.-
as obviously he and so many of his predecessor-modernists have been working SO hard to completely obliterate all pre-conciliar memory of the Church, and its dangerous traditional practices , which he says:
“in that moment took place, but not now, they do not exist today.”
For him, maybe, but we’re not giving up that easily.
___
Real Catholics must ask ourselves–, WHY it is too much for him to comprehend that if we say “A” prayer for him, it doesn’t demonstrate NEARLY AS MUCH willingness to personally sacrifice our time and energies on his behalf, as if we tell him we said a whole rosary or 10 rosaries or 3,000 rosaries? .
– Why would a man smart enough to be made head of his order, and a teacher of theology and philosophy, –even in his thoughts–dismiss with so much disdain such an obviously meaningful gift? Can he possibly be so consumed by hatred for anything he perceives as a threat to the Post Conciliar agenda, that he sees it as necessary to attack and destroy on the spot, anything that smacks of the “replaced” Church of Old and is not “approved” by modernists as worthy demonstrations of “faith and love”?
___
Stalin once said,” Ideas are more powerful than guns. We would not let our enemies have guns, why should we let them have ideas.”
__
We need to keep examples like this in mind, when people depict Francis as a harmless, well intentioned, Catholic -to-the-core- victim of bad press and misunderstood language, while he goes about acting as the destroyer of all that is truly Catholic and precious to us, our Faith which saves souls.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/religion/3033276/posts
IF,
I include the Holy Father in my daily Rosary…I hope he doesn’t find out 😀
IF, you ask “WHY it is too much for him to comprehend…” and my answer is because the philosophy his generation inhaled was the false one developed in the “endarkenment” – and the mantra we’ve heard time and time again (which we don’t seem to get) is that man is the centre of the universe. Modernism teaches its children something absolutely foreign to our sensibilities. But it is completely normal and reasonable to them.
—-
Poor Francis.
Pope Francis is a product of our times. He is moulded in a Catholic Faith that is NOT the faith of the Apostles. And he doesn’t comprehend because he is not looking at how the few faithful do for him, but looks to the reception of the world.
–
Just look at this for example, and for the Pope. THE POPE!!!:
WARNING: Men – images in link contain scantily clothed women.

–
This is beyond farcical! No, this wasn’t a personal Francis initiative , but something INCREDIBLY WICKED is going on and it is undoubtedly being ORCHESTRATED!
–
We are perhaps being prepared little by little to, incrementally, to accept that one day Pope Francis will sit at the head of the United World Religions Council. The useful idiots of Islam will continue to receive funding and training and arms and open-borders access from the West to attack the West which will then denounce Islam, which will then necessitate a Final Solution, which will necessitate the forceful implementation of a U.N. Religion that synthesizes all religions into a Masonic entity that from there will judge and proclaim an ambiguous unknowable god and moral law at the behest of a committee of religious leaders of whom they expect the Pope to be the head, for the more openly ecumenical the man the better!
–
Between this and word of the orchestration behind Francis’ election, there is something going on here and we are missing it! All those who do not bow before the One World Religious Committee will be considered on par with Islamic radicals and a danger to the State and World Peace.
Dear LGD,
So do we. But now, when we pray for his “intentions” we qualify it –for
“all the intentions of the Holy father, that are in accord with Your Divine Will, Lord”.. 🙂 🙂
Dear Barbara,
You’ll probably regret opening this can of worms, but we’ve been thinking about this, for a while now, and……
Modernism does seem a big part of his problem. BUT he preaches these individual aberrations with passion, frequently mentioning his childhood experiences, more as if he HATED so many of the legitimate restrictions and practices- the Church imposed, so much, that he held on to the pain and anger it caused him, and then later gobbled up the modernists and socialist gibberish that provided excuses to eliminate all of them so his personal vendettas acquired theological credibility, and his working against them from within the Church, -apparent legitimacy.
-They frequently are against things that get in the way of his spending every minute socializing with people, making them “feel” loved and welcomed into full communion in God’s house– even though it means ignoring the unpleasant news that must give up their favorite mortal sins and accept the fullness of the Faith, to do more than come in to pray there. . He does not seem to believe that is for their ultimate good. But talks only about eventualities, journeys, as if each soul has years and years ahead of them on earth, and will eventually do all that with ease-contrary to human nature, and experience/reality. That’s what angers us most about this failed approach he’s pushing harder than ever.. Society bought it, and is dying spiritually-as many of our loved ones have..
___
He wasn’t sympathetically or gently letting those people off the hook, because he felt sorry for them spending so much time on their knees for him. He was mocking the idea behind their efforts, as a ludicrous thing from out of his past that he never believed in, and never will; expressing his gratitude that no one else does any more.
___
If he’s convinced he knows God better than everyone else, as it often seems, then he’s delusional, as is his idea that God doesn’t mind at all coming to unrepentant mortal sinners in Communion, despite dogmatic teachings to the contrary, and centuries of tradition and teachings of the Saints and Scripture.
.He wants to sew those pillows under elbows. Remember how he railed against his childhood fasts before Communion, and how awful it was?
And it always seems to begin with what annoyed him personally that way, or what impedes sinners from staying comfortable in their sins.
___
That’s why folks like us are his main target. We make sinners uncomfortable with their sins.
____
On the repetition of prayers and sacrifices, issue, Our Lady has asked for more and more of them at every approved apparition in Church history. She didn’t tell Lucia-just knock one good one off, and go volunteer with the time you save.
And Jesus used to spend entire nights in prayer.
___
We’re not big on psychology to explain people, but so far Jorge, fits the bill for someone with narcissistic personality disorder, psychological projection, lack of impulse control, and a deep-seated need to control and manipulate.
-There are online reports that say he suffered a traumatic rejection at age 12, when he proposed to a young neighbor girl, asking her to marry him some day; and her family , “who didn’t think much of him”, prevented him from seeing her from that day on. She said he was a “nice boy who obviously loved her, but she wished he’d disappear off the map, at that point.” He had given her a drawing of the house he promised to provide for them some day, and said, if she refused him, he “would have to become a priest.” (he went on to Tango with another girlfriend years later, but decided to become a priest as we know.
–it all makes us wonder, when we read that such rejection in young men is supposed to make them more controlling, and bitter against the authority that made them feel so helpless powerless. And in need of good counselling it’s always worse when the parents break it up.
–Everybody has childhood “traumas” and many people overcome them well.
But we wonder, in this case, with him talking about being such a “loner” and the Jesuits exiling him for two years for being too “controlling”, if there isn’t something really wrong, emotionally, and he’s still taking out all his childhood frustrations on the Church and the restrictions he resented for so long, with the Devil being happy to assist in convincing him he’s following the Holy Spirit.
It’s just more to consider….
.
p.s. Just so you know we’re not makin’ this stuff up…

Here’s another comparison, like comparing Pius X to poor Francis – this time Moses in comparison to any bishop, or poor Francis we hear today. Here’s Moses from Canticle of Moses at Laudes today (pre-Trident Monastic Office)
—-
Hear, O ye heavens, the things I speak, * let the earth give ear to the words of my mouth.
—-
Let my doctrine gather as the rain, * let my speech distil as the dew,
As a shower upon the herb, and as drops upon the grass. * Because I will invoke the name of the Lord:
—-
Give ye magnificence to our God. * The works of God are perfect, and all his ways are judgments:
—-
God is faithful and without any iniquity, he is just and right. * They have sinned against him, and are none of his children in their filth:
—-
They are a wicked and perverse generation. * Is this the return thou makest to the Lord, O foolish and senseless people?
—-
Is not he thy father, * that hath possessed thee, and made thee, and created thee?
—-
O that poor Francis would speak thus.
No, IF, I don’t ever regret opening cans of worms as it often brings folks like you forward with more good information and insights….and thanks for your long comments.
—-
I’m clutching at straws, I guess. I want so much for souls to be saved….and I see this whole thing as God’s withdrawing of His grace from many in this world.
—-
So: MORE ROSARIES!!!!
Dear Barbara,
Our biggest problem is that he DOES speak thusly, only selectively and as if his every thought represents the true God:
“Hear, O ye heavens, the things I speak, * let the earth give ear to the words of my mouth….Let MY doctrine gather as the rain, * let MY speech distil as the dew,. as a shower upon the herb, and as drops upon the grass. * Because I DO invoke the name of the Lord:
God is faithful and without any iniquity, he is just and right. * They [THE HYPOCRITES WHO CALL ON TRADITION AND DON’T WALK WITH UNREPENTANT SINNERS] have sinned against him, and are none of his children in their filth: They are a wicked and perverse generation. * Is this the return thou makest to the Lord, O foolish and senseless people? Is not he thy father, * that hath possessed thee, and made thee, and created thee?
==========
Here is the world’s take on what makes Francis, denying him as the False Prophet:
“the principal message of the Church in this time has to be mercy rather than judgment; both are necessary but mercy comes first.”
They paint “judgment” as unmerciful condemnation, rather than as acknowledgement of truth, i.e. reality.
Thus they pit it against Mercy, which is nonsense.
Judgement has to come first, in order for the sinner to see himself as sinful and repent. That ALLOWS Mercy to be shown.
Dear Barbara,
God Bless you and don’t ever let that fiery passion we are so glad to see in your comments, cool.
That’s what this life is for–saving souls.
If and when God withdraws Grace, Scripture assures us it’s always for the greater good it will bring. We have to trust him. Faith and Hope are not necessary in Heaven. They are earthy staples, that help get us there. 🙂 🙂
Dear Barbara and all,
It occurs to us that when we talk about the mis- placement of Man at the center of everything, it’s important to link it to how it results in focusing entirely on THIS life. Pope Francis always looks and sounds -especially to worldly people- as one who “of course” puts Christ first in his life. He is ALWAYS reminding everyone that we have to “follow Jesus” and “pray to Jesus” in order to know Him.
__
The evidence of his disordered attacks against truth, don’t surface , until you analyze his numerous expressions of concern for man,and see far more talk about what must be done for man’s earthly comforts, needs, desires, joys and sorrows, than for his eternal destination, and what he must do for it to be heaven, rather than hell.
-Francis’ philosophy strives to replace the role Christ gave us in His mandate to go Teach and Baptize, with one of being man’s comforting companion and best-friend, without bringing him the discomfort of talking about what divides us, i.e sin and heresie (the devils lies and tools). .
___
The CRUCIAL MISSING ELEMENT in that role, is the CONDITION placed by God on the salvation of each and every soul, for adoption into His family.
___
What we lost by the Original Sin/disobedience to God’s Law, can only be restored by ACCEPTING that condition, thus pledging our will to obey and gaining membership in the family of those who have and will yet do likewise.
-Without this renunciation of- evil as God defines it- and the pledge to strive mightily to continue in this new way of life, availing ourselves of the Sacraments, we remain with the world who rejects their salvation.
__
-So we must train our eyes and ears to look for signs of THIS DIABOLICAL LIE -THAT CONFUSES GOD’S UNCONDITIONAL LOVE WITH SALVATION, THAT IS NOT UNCONDITIONAL. because it requires a free-will choice..
Satan modern lies ignore and deny free will. God cannot. His mercy will never override it, because the moment He did so, it would cease to be free.
__
It is no mercy to leave even one soul in ignorance of these facts. Doing that, only helps lead to damnations, and amounts to criminal neglect. The punishment for doing that, Scripture says, increases with the amount of Trust, inherent in one’s position. with the highest being the Hierarchy and Pope–ergo the oft-heard saying -“The floor of hell is littered with the skulls of bishops.”
St. Athanasius, Council of Nicaea, AD 325 .
