Look Magazine, January 1961: Relevant as ever

Louie, June 27, 2025June 27, 2025

In December of 1961, Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel met with Cardinal Augustin Bea in Rome, after which Heschel was invited to submit formal suggestions for the upcoming Second Vatican Council.

Embracing that invitation, Heschel immediately began working with the American Jewish Committee on a memorandum calling on the Church to absolve the Jews of killing Christ (despite St. Paul’s very clear words to the contrary in 1 Thes. 2:15), to acknowledge the perpetual election of Jews and, lastly, to give up any formal mission aimed at the conversion of the Jews.

On January 9, 1962, an evidently impatient Cardinal Bea sent a personal letter to Heschel letting him know just how much he was looking forward to receiving the memorandum, as if the bishops of the Holy Roman Catholic Church, gathered in an allegedly valid ecumenical council, would otherwise be unable to craft a text on the Church’s relationship with the Jews.

One can only imagine the level of optimism and hopeful expectation that was running through the Jewish world at large as a result. In particular, the leaders of the Zionist movement must have been thrilled to have their foot in the door of St. Peter’s, and this by way of cordial invitation no less.

At this point in time, the modern terrorist state of Israel had been in existence for over a decade. It was still, however, unrecognized by the Holy See (and would remain so until 1993), and yet here they were being afforded an opportunity to infiltrate the inner sanctum of its one true enemy, the Catholic Church, the Kingdom of Christ on earth.

Just one week after Cardinal Bea’s letter to Heshel was written, Look Magazine published a series of “predictions” looking twenty-five years into the future as made by a handful of famous persons, among them, a heretic Protestant “bishop,” Clare Boothe Luce (who along with her husband, Henry, published Time Magazine and were instrumental in pushing the Council to adopt John Courtney Murray’s treatment of religious liberty), David Ben-Gurion (the Zionist terrorist and first Prime Minister of Israel), and John F. Kennedy (President of the United States who, following tense exchanges with the latter terrorist, was assassinated).

In this post, I’d like to bring to your attention Ben-Gurion’s vision of the world as he evidently hoped it would look in the year 1987, whereby he offers us a glimpse into the godless Zionist soul.

Ben-Gurion wrote, in part, the following:

The increasing influence of the workers and farmers, and the rising political importance of men of science, may transform the United States into a welfare state with a planned economy.

A couple things stand out here: One, when Ben-Gurion speaks of a “planned economy,” there can be no doubt whatsoever that the “planners” he had in mind were the very same wealthy members of the “Jewish supremacist class” (to quote Professor Norman Finkelstein) that bankrolled the establishment of Israel.

Secondly, his prediction concerning the political importance of men of science may initially seem clairvoyant, and to some extent it was given the scientism that took control of the world in 2020.

Bear in mind, however, that Ben-Gurion was writing six years after President Dwight D. Eisenhower delivered his famous “military-industrial complex” speech, i.e., Ben-Gurion was being less the prognosticator than he was simply signaling how the aforementioned Jewish supremacists would labor to make real the threat of which Eisenhower warned.

Ben-Gurion’s prediction continued:

Western and Eastern Europe will become a federation of autonomous states having a Socialist and democratic regime. With the exception of the USSR as a federated Eurasian state, all other continents will become united in a world alliance, at whose disposal will be an international police force. All armies will be abolished, and there will be no more wars.

The Zionist vision is socialist and globalist in nature, but with one very important feature: They will be the ones to occupy the ultimate positions of power over the “world alliance” to come.

As for “no more wars,” this strikes me as the comment of a man who objects too much, i.e., a serial liar. Israel has always paid lip service to peace while taking steps that guarantee its absence. Even as he wrote, Ben-Gurion was embroiled in a tug-of-war with President Kennedy over his refusal to support Israel’s insistence that it should have a nuclear weapons program. What happened next is well known.

A such, there’s little reason to believe that David Ben-Gurion of all people sincerely desired an end to war. He continued:

In Jerusalem, the United Nations (a truly United Nations) will build a Shrine of the Prophets to serve the federated union of all continents; this will be the seat of the Supreme Court of Mankind, to settle all controversies among the federated continents, as prophesied by Isaiah.

If one didn’t know any better, they might think that the writer is a man of religion. In reality, David Ben-Gurion was far from it.

As his biographers note, in his youth, Ben-Gurion was drawn to atheism. As an adult, his unbelief turned into a deep hatred. From a well-footnoted Wikipedia article:

Orthodox philosopher Yeshayahu Leibowitz considered Ben-Gurion “to have hated Judaism more than any other man he had met”. He was proud of the fact that he had only set foot in a synagogue once in Israel, worked on Yom Kippur and ate pork.

An article in the Jewish Press states:

The role of Judaism and the Bible in Ben-Gurion’s life may perhaps be best summarized by his famous statement: “Since I invoke Torah so often, let me state that I don’t personally believe in the G-d it postulates…I am not religious, nor were the majority of the early builders of Israel believers. Yet, their passion for this land stemmed from the Book of Books…[and the Bible is] the single most important book in my life.”

Imagine that; a man who despises Judaism invoking Torah often. Now, why would he do such a thing?

At this one may think of Satan (who arguably hates God even more than David Ben-Gurion) and how he also weaponized Scripture verses in an effort to tempt Jesus unto unfaithfulness in the desert.

Note, however, that the Devil does not simply invoke Scripture, he twists it, manipulates it, and misappropriates it as a means of deceiving and seducing others in service to his evil agenda. David Ben-Gurion and his fellow Zionists, both past and present, do the same.

With this in mind, let’s take a closer look at the last citation from Ben-Gurion’s Look Magazine essay:

In Jerusalem, the United Nations (a truly United Nations) will build a Shrine of the Prophets to serve the federated union of all continents; this will be the seat of the Supreme Court of Mankind, to settle all controversies among the federated continents, as prophesied by Isaiah.

The first thing that bears mention here is that what Ben-Gurion refers to as a “Shrine of the Prophets” is what a devout self-identified Jew would call the Third Temple. Recall Ben-Gurion’s disgust for Judaism. For him, calling it the Temple would be tantamount to affording validity to a religion that he hated.

Bottom line: The construction of this so-called “Shrine of the Prophets” of which Ben-Gurion wrote, and the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem, are one and the same project.

At this, one should note very well who, according to Ben-Gurion, will build this temple. He tells us his expectation plainly:

The United Nations will build it.

Never mind whether or not this “vision” will ever come to fruition exactly as stated, the salient point is that the Third Temple in Jerusalem will not be built exclusively, or even primarily, by Jews, rather, it will be a collective effort involving a consortium of persons and nations acting at their behest.

Common sense alone suggests that this will be necessary given that only two-tenths of one percent (.2%) of the global population identifies as Jewish, i.e., they need to cajole or coerce others to act on their behalf, just as they did in urging Pilate to consent to Our Lord’s crucifixion.

This is why the Zionists, even from the earliest days of their movement, have labored so mightily to recruit the support of non-Jews, e.g., greedy, power-hungry gentile elite (like Bill Gates); government officials who are easily deceived by claims of “anti-Semitism” (like nearly the entire Trump Administration), ill-formed so-called “Christians” (like Ted Cruz, Pete Hegseth and more heretic preachers than one can possibly count) who believe that supporting Zionism is a Biblical imperative, etc.

The world’s Zionist leaders are a flesh and blood example of the power brought to bear by a little leaven. These men comprise but a small fraction of those who call themselves Jewish, and yet their corrupting influence is such that they are able to steer world events in support of their goals, among them, an ever-expanding footprint for the terrorist nation of Israel, and the eventual construction of the Third Temple in Jerusalem.

About that Temple…

Numerous Church Fathers (e.g., St. Irenaeus, St. Hippolytus, St. Cyril of Jerusalem) taught that Antichrist will reign from a rebuilt temple in Jerusalem.

But when this antichrist shall have devastated all things in this world, he will reign for three years and six months, and sit in the temple at Jerusalem… (Irenaeus, Against Heresies, 5.30.4)

Get that? The Zionist project isn’t just a bad idea in a geo-political sense, rather, one may reasonably argue that it’s an operation of Satan in preparation for the Antichrist, an understanding of Zionism that is especially consonant with the vision of David Ben-Gurion, one of the Fathers of present-day Israel.

Stated differently, the interests of Zionism and the modern terrorist state of Israel that it spawned are not merely of questionable value vis-à-vis American interests considered in a political sense. They can also be expected to play a significant role in the unfolding of salvation history.

That is not to say, however, that all contemporary political considerations with respect to Israel are short sighted and of little lasting importance.

As Aquinas teaches, “man is naturally a civic and social animal, as is proved in Polit. i, 2.” (Summa Theologiae I-II, 72.4) [NOTE: “Polit. i, 2” refers to the work of Aristotle wherein he argues that man is a “political animal” by nature.]

Political activity, according to Aquinas, concerns the way in which “man is directed in relation to other men among whom he has to dwell.” (ibid.) Needless to say, relations between men and nations take place not only within the arc of salvation history, but also on a daily basis, and it is within the conditions of everyday life that man must work out his salvation in fear and in trembling. (cf Philippians 2:12)

In other words, contemporary political issues and how they are addressed by those in civil authority matter a great deal in both the short and the long run.

As such, it is necessary for statesmen to discern on a case-by-case, issue-by-issue basis when, if ever, the interests of a given nation align with their own, and this in genuine service to the common good, addressed in a manner that, at minimum, is in keeping with the dictates of the natural law.

On this latter note, the wisdom of the Catholic Church (and here I speak of the one true Church of Christ, not the conciliar counterfeit) which informs and guides those who exercise civil authority, is indispensable, its separation from the State being a most pernicious error. (cf Pope Pius X, Vehementer Nos, 3)

Relations with the present-day terrorist state of Israel, as distasteful and as treacherous as they may be, cannot be avoided altogether. It is necessary, therefore, for every other nation on earth – as well as their citizens, to the extent that they wield any influence at all – to understand with exactly whom they are dealing.

David Ben-Gurion’s “vision” published in Look Magazine provided yet another hint on this note when he mentioned the prophesy of Isaiah.

In this, he was referring to Isaiah 2:1–4, which reads:

The word that Isaias, the son of Amos, saw, concerning Juda and Jerusalem. And in the last days the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be prepared on the top of mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills, and all nations shall flow unto it.  And many people shall go, and say: Come and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob, and he will teach us his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall come forth from Sion, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. And he shall judge the Gentiles, and rebuke many people: and they shall turn their swords into ploughshares, and their spears into sickles: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they be exercised any more to war. (ibid.)

Consider what the Haydock Commentary has to say about this passage:

Many particular prophecies are blended with the general one, which regards Christ. “Days.” The whole time of the new law, from the coming of Christ till the end of the world, is called in the Scripture the last days; because no other age, or time shall come after it, but only eternity. It is therefore styled the last hour (1 John ii).

“Mountains.” This shews the perpetual visibility of the Church of Christ: for a mountain upon the top of mountains cannot be hid. This evidently regards the Church (Matthew v). The Jews can never shew the fulfillment of this prophecy in any material temple (Micheas iv. 1).

“Jerusalem.” Our Saviour preached there, and in some sense the religion established by Him, may be esteemed a reform, or accomplishment of the old law.

“War.” Ezechias enjoyed peace after the defeat of Sennacherib, as the whole world did at the birth of Christ.

So, what does this tell us?

– Where Isaiah prophesies of Christ the King, the Zionist looks for the enthronement of unbelieving Jews.

– Where Isaiah speaks of the Church perpetually visible as a mountain on a mountain, the Zionist plots to rebuild an edifice to his own on the Temple Mount.

– Where Isaiah speaks of the coming of the Just Judge at the last hour, the Zionist dreams of a time when they, unbelieving “Jews” who abhor the religion of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, will occupy the judgment seat in a Supreme Court of Man.

– Where Isaiah foretells of Christ judging the gentiles – meaning, all the nations of the earth united under His rule – the Zionist imagines himself superior to all non-Jews, just as the Talmud teaches.

The takeaway from all of this is simple: Zionism, the temporal headquarters of which is the terrorist state of Israel, is ultimately, diametrically, and diabolically opposed to the reign of Christ the King and the mission that He gave to the Holy Roman Catholic Church, which is His Kingdom in earth.
