Today, on the Novus Ordo calendar, is the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. As such, today will be the first time in the last year that most Catholics will hear a word about the Lord’s Kingship. The bad news, however, is that they will likely hear some limpwristed protestant drivel about Christ being the King of our hearts.
(Queue up that miserable 1970’s song Feelings, nothing more than feelings…)
They will also likely be told that “My kingdom is not of this world” is proof that Our Lord’s reign is not “political,” and yada, yada, yada.
How many pastors would be willing to include substantial excerpts from Quas Primas in their homilies? How many even have a clue that this magnificent encyclical is every bit as much the teaching of the Church today as it was the day it was written?
In any event, I suppose it’s time to take take down… I mean update, the poster I made last year.
Mr V ….you are a treasure!!!
Impact. Thank you, Mr. V.
Long live Christ the King! “The whole of mankind is subject to Him!” whether they acknowledge it our not!
It is a joy to read this blog…
Returned from 7:30 mass at Novus Ordo Parish….the Feast of Christ the King was recognized but we were told that as the good thief called Our Divine Savior ( my term) by His Name Jesus and not Messiah or King that we should follow suit. After all Jesus became man and was one of us. We are called to charity toward our neighbor as Our Lord exemplified and that is what this Feast Day is truly about……I`d say social justice has taken precedence to Our Lords` Sovereign Kingship. Oh I almost forgot the part about how this country doesn`t have an affinity for kings as this USA was founded to be relieved from the tyranny of the English Monarchy. Suffice it to say Jesus is our best buddy.
As lukewarm and ignorant many Catholics have become, however, they are only as bad as their liberal priests and bishops who don’t have the backbone to preach true Catholic Faith……..Miserere!
Unless the above mentioned returns to God, preach from the pulpit how to conserve the Catholic Faith and defend it against the errors of our times and the attacks of its enemies……….only, then Catholics will reclaim their ‘inheritance’…. the reign of Catholic Christ the King.
……from Father Robert Mader, “Cross and Crown”…….UNTIL POLITICS HAS AGAIN FOUND THE CROSS, ALL EFFORTS WILL BE IN VAIN……EITHER THERE WILL BE THE RECONSTRUCTION OF THE KINGDOM OF CHRIST, OR THERE WILL BE A GENERAL COLLAPSE…..THEREFORE LET US GO AND MAKE CHRIST KING, FIRST KING OF OUR MINDS AND KING OF OUR HEARTS, THEN KING OF OUR FAMILIES AND FINALLY KING OF HUMAN SOCIETY. THE ENCYCLICAL OF PIUS XI ON THE KINGSHIP OF CHRIST MUST NOT HAVE BEEN WRITTEN IN VAIN.
………..CHRIST MUST BECOME KING OVER THE WHOLE WORLD!
Viva Cristo Rey!
….thank you Mr.V…..
Have you seen the Wikipedia article on Quas Primas? It weakly attempts to explain it away (without citations, of course).

If someone is up to it, perhaps a revision of that entry can be written to summarize its real contents.
I made the reign of Christ the King the centre of my homily this morning, and it’s true implications for every social and political institution, and the duty of Catholics to oppose intrinsic evils such as abortion and homosexual acts promoted by politicians, and further, that we should not vote for such politicians and neither should they present themselves for holy communion as long as they uphold such evil and have not renounced such positions and reconciled with Church. You could hear a pin drop. I am expecting a letter of complaint any day soon. That happens from time to time.
Rock on Father Mann!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You might have heard a pin drop in your church but there were choirs of angels yelling in jubilation at your words…a party was had:+) Yes, welcome the letters…for you can respond with the truth and inform/instruct the ignorant.
Theresa- I find it ironic that the priest used the fact that the thief didn’t call Our Lord by “king” since there was a sign over His head “Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews” and He wore the crown of thorns. It was those signs and symbols that reflected His King of Kings position yet they now use it as fodder to strip Him. God bless~
Translation, translation, translation. Theresa- I thought the good thief said “Lord” at some point to acknowledge the Kingship of Christ. My bible (jersalem circa 1960) and others don’t have it but the 1899 Douay does. “And he said to Jesus: Lord, remember me when thou shalt come into thy kingdom.” So the homilist was WAAAY off. It’s so good when your Traditional senses are validated:+) God bless~

God bless Priests who receive letters of complaint for upholding Truth rather than promoting tolerance of lies.
The homliy at my parish was surprisingly, refreshingly Catholic – our priest even mentioned Pius XI who instituted the feast of Christ the King and why. something to savour.
God bless you Fr. Mann! I wish I had ever been to a homily where you could here a pin drop!
God bless you, Father Mann.
Nomen est omen!
Last night, I started to read again “The Guillotine and the Cross”……..how low has fallen, the post-Vatican II hierarchy……allowing Satan to reign within the Church! Was the Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ, of His martyrs…….for NOTHING?……GOD FORBID!
‘The smoke of Satan’ has clearly dimmed the eyes, minds and hearts of so many who embraced it; out of our own desire for the ‘reforms’, to cover up our own desires for worldliness, to deny and reject ‘sin’ while pretending to be obedient Catholics, we have become instruments in conspiracy against GOD, His True Teachings against the Holy Church.
Starting with the evil Revolution in England, then the evil French Revolution, then the evil Russian Revolution, then evil American Revolution ……….how could Pius XI, Pius XII, Bl. John XXIII up to present Bishop of Rome Francis…….. have ignored the warnings of the Mother of God at Fatima?
…….May God Have Mercy on His Shepherds that in their cowardice, in pleasing the ‘Revolutions’ they have compromised the Holy Faith. They have been participants in the devastation of the Holy Church, the loss of countless souls, known only to God Almighty!. They have contributed to ‘the evil echo’ of the Revolutions………’Away with the Catholic Tyranny!’
May God Bless All Soldiers of Christ, who’s hearts were set on fire for love of God, for His Truth……… then…….and until today!!!
May God Bless the brave and bold Archbp. Lefebvre with his followers……..the enemies of Jesus Christ on the Cross, of His Truth, as we speak, are gnashing their teeth………and, SO ARE the faithful against the ‘wolves in the sheep clothes’, our deceivers……….Miserere, Domine!
Lord give us holy and fearless Vicar of Christ! Fearless bishops and priests!
Our Lady of Fatima, ora pro nobis!
All you Holy Martyrs, defenders of the holy Faith, orate!
Viva Cristo Rey!
God bless you Dr. Mann.
The homily at my Novus Ordo parish mentioned Christ the King, and that like the good thief we must recognize Christ as The Lord of all. We also consecrated our new tabernacle, which is now in the front of the church instead of the corner of a side chapel.
There have been many positive changes such as this the last yer and a half. Our new priest is young ( for a priest, 39 years old) and seems aware of which way the winds are blowing. He is very gently guiding this very liberal flock in an orthodox direction, praise be to God!
Along with those above, blessings to you Fr. Mann aka Fr. The Man!!
Fortunately, my NO pastor is pretty good and also made clear in his homily that Christ the King rules, not politicians or other leaders – even our prayers of the faithful included one that rulers would recognize to Whom they are subject.
The priest in my Novus Ordo parish spoke about the persecution of Catholicism in Mexico in the 1920’s and the loyalty to Christ the King of the martyr Bl. Miguel Pro. He said that the Crucified King reminds us that we Catholics cannot be like everyone else. We must judge all human laws by God’s laws. We belong to the Kingdom of God and the Catholic Church is its embassy in this world. We must promote the interests of our King and His Kingdom by our loyal words and actions until He calls us to our true home.
Dear Bruce, thank you for telling about this. Thanks be to God for this homily. Peace be to you.
“Brick by brick” Father Mann.
Prayers are being answered. Pray for the Pope.
