On this day in 1986, John Paul the Great Ecumenist (rabbi and interreligious guru) hosted a so-called World Day of Prayer for Peace.
As readers are most certainly aware, what actually took place was what St. Paul identified as a “sacrifice to devils and not to God,” its participants (including every self-identified Catholics on hand, including the Polish anti-pope) behaving as “partakers of the table of devils.” (see 1 Corinthians 10:20-21)
So, what’s so happy about the anniversary of this gravely sinful gathering?
To the extent that persons of good will use this occasion to take a sober look at the Assisi event – to consider its foundation and its purpose as described by its organizer, carefully viewing it through the lens of our holy Catholic faith – it will indeed be a HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
I had the great pleasure of joining Kevin Davis on the Catholic Family Podcast to discuss the conciliar roots of the Assisi event as made plain by John Paul II in his own words. While I cannot promise that the podcast will provide any insights you’ve not already considered, I can say that it may prove helpful in opening the eyes of your Novus Ordo friends who, sadly, consider the conciliar enterprise Catholic and Wojtyla a saint.
With that in mind, please take a look when you’re able and share it with someone that may find it beneficial.
