In a December 21st interview with the newspaper of the Diocese of Macau (China), Cardinal Raymond Burke was asked to comment on the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI.
He responded:
It was an action that took me by surprise. It is clear that Pope Benedict has reached a certain age, but certainly he was in full possession of his faculties. Someone said that “he was not longer able to travel or bear many audiences.” But I ask myself: who says that the pope has to travel or that he has to receive so many people? I think it is necessary to re-examine the substance of the Petrine office. I would also say that it was not a good thing for the Church to lose its universal shepherd: there is a certain feeling among many Catholics that their father abandoned them. I hope it does not become a common practice …
Cardinal Burke further stated in response to a follow-up question:
But this [travel] is not part of the Petrine ministry per se, whose mission is to safeguard the unity and the practice of the faith, and especially the liturgy.
Let’s break this down, shall we.
Certainly he was in full possession of his faculties.
Cardinal Burke is plainly saying that he does not believe that Pope Benedict lacked the “strength of mind” necessary “to adequately fulfill the [Petrine] ministry entrusted to me;” one of the reasons he gave in his Declaratio of 10 February 2013 announcing his intent to resign; the other being that he lacked the “strength of body” to continue.
Someone said that “he was not longer able to travel or bear many audiences.”
That “someone” was Pope Benedict XVI himself, who in an August 2016 interview with La Repubblica cited as the primary factor (“above all”) in his decision to resign:
Above all, I realized that I was no longer able to face the future in transoceanic flights due to the problem of time zones …
About this claim concerning his “strength of body,” Cardinal Burke also cried foul:
Who says that the pope has to travel? This is not part of the Petrine ministry.
In short, Cardinal Burke is telling us that neither of the two reasons given by Benedict in the Declaratio were, in his estimation, true statements.
Unless he means to suggest that Benedict had simply erred in assessing his own condition – something that would plainly contradict the idea that he was in full possession of his faculties – it is evident that Cardinal Burke believes that Benedict acted for reasons that he chose not to disclose.
As some commentators would have it, Cardinal Burke is guilty of setting up “straw men” simply by stating the obvious; namely, when it comes to the events surrounding Benedict’s so-called resignation, all is not what it appears to be.
As I’ve stated many times, no one other than Benedict (and perhaps a relatively small number of others) knows all of the details concerning this unprecedented situation, but what we do know more than justifies calling into question the validity of his resignation and, therefore, the conclave that followed.
Whether he intended to do so or not, Cardinal Burke has done precisely this.
Louie, some time ago my very good friend of many years sent you a commentary (which I helped him to write) which laid out why Benedict’s resignation is invalid, and the ensuing conclave also invalid. My friend’s name is Mr. John J. Arechiga. Perhaps you might now consider publishing his commentary on your website. The commentary focused on the St. Gallen Mafia, and John Paul II’s Apostolic Constitution, Universi Dominici Gregis, which governed valid papal elections. There is no way that Francis is validly elected, and, there is no way that Benedict’s resignation is valid either- due to provable coercion.
With every day that passes it become more clear that PBXVI was forced to vacate the See of Peter & therefore his resignation is not valid. Why this subject has not been raised before is worrisome, as one would expect Canon Lawyers & Theologians to be on to it at the outset. PBXVI recently gave the hint to it when he recently wrote to ++Müller stating that Bishops & Cardinals do not really retire & if that is so how can a Pope retire/resign. A Pope is especially consecrated & that mark stays with him until he dies, also infallibility. That is why PF never speaks ex cathedra or calls himself Vicar of Christ because he can’t & it also explains the chaos that he has inflicted on the Bride of Christ. Something should be done promptly about this ‘dual papacy’. We need the consecration of Russia & the revealing of the Third Secret, both of which rely on a valid Pope answering Our Lady’s requests.
Does an excellent book (not wild-eyed, not littered with bold, all-caps, and italics) yet exist making the case that Benedict remains pope while Bergoglio is an imposter?
P.S. Sedevacantists, kindly refrain from vandalizing this thread with your talking points and virtue-signaling.
“I would also say that it was not a good thing for the Church to lose its universal shepherd: there is a certain feeling among many Catholics that their father abandoned them. I hope it does not become a common practice …”
Although Burke does not like the fact that or the reasons why Benedict resigned, he is not calling into question whether his resignation was legitimate. He clearly states that the Church “lost its universal shepherd” and that he “hopes that it [the papal resignation] does not become a common practice.”
I think those who badly want to believe that Benedict is the true pope are misinterpreting Burke’s words to fit their own beliefs. Sorry Louie.
The plot thickens. Stay tuned.
Oh for pity sake! every Catholic who knows the Faith should be demanding the Vatican stick to Dogma ( which in case you missed it IS Scriptural ) !!!!
and get rid of all the known sodomites they invited into the clergy.
You might thus be surprised who is and in not Papally qualified !

Dear 2Vermont, I think you rash judge on various levels. First of all, when you say that “those who want to believe Benedict is the true pope are misinterpreting Burke’s words to suit their own beliefs” you speak as someone who has not done your homework. Louis as well as myself have given sufficient evidence at least to present the possibility of his being pope, which ought to make reasonable minds look further into the matter. Secondly, your are rather simplistic to think that what Cardinal Burke listed as excuses for Benedict to “resign”, Burke at on time head of the Apostolic Signatura, a doctor of Canon Law, and Cardinal of the Church, are the real excuses. 1) He knows better than most of the Faithful what is taking place in Rome; 2) he has examined my work on the renunciation of Benedict and has never refuted anything of it. Personally, I don’t know precisely what’s behind Cardinal Burke’s comments, but I assure you he has his reasons for saying what he did. However, I would venture a guess: It is possible he is under the gun, because of what he said at the Buckfast Abbey in Buckfast, Devon, England on 12 October 2017, but also because of the growing opposition to Bergoglio, with more and more of the Faithful saying quite openly that Francis is an anti-Pope.
Provable coercion? There are serious questions over Pope Benedicts resignation including Fr Gruners statement that the correct translation said he was not resigning the office but the exercise of the office. He continues to be HH Pope Benedict XVI lives in the Vatican and wears white. From the beginning Francis has referred to himself as Bishop of Rome and refused to live in the papal apartments. These facts in themselves raise questions. There is then the published part of the Third Secret referred to by Fr Gruner, a Bishop in White giving the impression of being the Holy Father.
Cardinal Burke mentions the concerns of the Faithful over the resignation and of course knows the real reasons for it.
So where is your “Pope” Benedict? Why hasn’t he spoken up for the Truth against Bergoglio?
From another Louie blog entry:
“In conclusion, while Francis has upped the rhetoric in declaring proselytism “solemn nonsense,” and has cast unprecedented doubt on the Divinity of Christ, make no mistake; he’s simply following in Benedict’s footsteps.”
Exactly…which is why Benedict was not threatened to abdicate.
With all due respect to Louie and those on this board. While most of us can agree that Francis is not the pope (the most important issue anyway) I have to disagree that Benedict can somehow still be pope. The Papacy, like the Church, is a visible institution. Unlike the protestants I cannot believe in an invisible church, and unlike the ’’resignationists’’ I cannot accept the concept of an invisible pope. Benedict the Abdicator cannot be the “hidden Imam” of Catholicism. He’s the Catholic Church’s original ‘Deadbeat Dad’ and all flaws aside, he resigned his public office for all the world to see. His persistent heresies on the nature of the papal office, as evidenced by his flawed understanding of resigning “some portion” of the papacy, do not negate the fact that he is no longer pope, they rather exacerbate it by demonstrating that his own errors and muddled thinking contributed to his loss of office and the failure to properly exercise his ministry.
Do you not all see the confusion that ensues when you try to justify a modernist heretic being Vicar of Christ? Your arguments are all so silly and lead to even more chaos. We are dealing here with modernists pretending to be Catholic and you all willingly give them the recognition they seek. Burke, Benedict, Francis, all modernists to the bone. They are not the Catholic Church since they do not profess the Catholic faith.
We can see the fruit of the so call “resignation.” Whether it was valid or not doesn’t matter at this point, at lest to us lowly ones – laity and priests. The only ones who can do something about this horrid situation are the Cardinals and Bishops.
Do I believe he was forced out – hell yea! He may even outlive the current occupier of the throne. But the only way Frank is going is through death. This psychopath will never resign. His sycophants will probably stuff his body and continue unleashing hell when he is dead.
Yeah, but at the moment, they’re holding the keys.
We would probably need to know the real reasons for his resignation to be able to answer that
Anyone complicit in the fabrication of or involvement with the V2 man-centered perverted”church” is an enemy of Christ. Therefore, whether it is one pope, two popes, real popes or fake popes should be of no consequence to aka Catholics who should be (and are) more concerned with the salvation of souls. The bigger problem, IMO, is the lack of fortitude and resolve from Traditional priestly societies which are either under the umbrella of this man-made “church” or the SSPX which seeks recognition from Modernist Rome. So who will lead the fight to victory? Can an army win a war without Generals and ammunition? I think there is more blame on those who profess to have the Truth, but fall in line with those who don’t.
Guess will know soon enough 2Cents.
This was on another site……..
“Vatican Alert! Francis to Demand Oath of “Fidelity” to Himself and His “Magisterium” from all Clerics in Conciliar Church. Coming in “Months.” Who among “us” will take the Oath?”
“his magisterium?”
Silly me , I always thought the “Magisterium” includes all the infallible pronouncements and teaching encyclicals from the previous popes too ?
I’ll reply to myself here……kinda like thinking aloud because on this I have to see it to believe it ! Yep there it is , but then again …….Who are we to judge?
“The magisterium of the Catholic Church is the church’s authority or office to establish teachings. That authority is vested uniquely in the pope and the bishops, under the premise that they are in communion with the correct and true teachings of the faith which is shown in the Cathechism of the Catholic Church.”
So if homosexual acts are deemed to be not allowed ( according to the
CCC ) ,and even MORE importantly by God’s Word ,Scripture itself , Why then is no action being taken against the vast swath of sodomite clerics within the ranks of the clergy? Why has Pope Francis given choice appointments to persons such as Fr James Martin and others who dissent from the magisterial teachings?
Ans: Simply because Magisterial authority has become impotent and no oath on earth , just like same sex marriage vows , mean anything anymore.
Sweep– I have heard from reliable sources that there are many associated with the SSPX (both clergy and laity) who are awaiting the July 2018 elections. If Fellay is re-elected, they will make a move to exit. If he is not elected, they will take a “wait and see” stance to determine the direction under the new Superior General. Do you have any info to confirm this? In any case, 2018 should be a defining moment for the SSPX which has become an army without bullets.
No 2Cents ,i haven’t heard. all I know was that SSPX was infiltrated by a lavender gang way back , of which many have broken away to start their own SSJ and then Resistance Movement and are now using Fellay as their excuse.
What a mess since they have stepped far out into the stratosphere dragging decent and sincere Catholics with them. But remember , they were allowed to enter under the original SSPX leadership.
What we need and have needed is Leadership in the Vatican with the courage to sweep out the filth and bring back the true Mass.
Until that time there is no truly safe haven ,with the exception of Our Lady and Her Rosary . All was foretold by Her and kept secret. LaSalette , Trefontaine and Fatima.
It is also in St John’s last Book of the Bible with the loving encouragement of St Jude for us which precedes it.
I COMPLETELY agree with the above statements. The reason that things are not so clear and forthcoming is because of the MASONIC MAFIA running the Vatican. Just look at the harshness and despotic attitude which Francis used with several of the Cardinals and bishops and even the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart. If one focuses on his myriad nonsensical statement, like ” I don’t believe God is a Catholic God”, or his confession that: ” Damnation is simply the ANNIHILATION of the SOUL”, implying that THERE IS NO HELL !!!. How can A POPE say such ABOMINABLE things?
Pope Benedict XVI does not say flatly what needs to be said because he still experiences the MENACING FORCE of the MASONIC MAFIA entrenched inside the Vatican walls. Only God knows and the Mafia themselves and Pope Benedict himself what are the BULLETS aimed at him and the Church. He must think that God and Our Lady will intervene and sweep the Vatican floors in due course.
If Benedict in any way shape or form, still thinks he is the true pope, while collaborating and consenting to the rule of an antipope, then he is the most despicable human being. Face, under no viable scenario, can Benedict still be Pope. Francis has not placed him in prison a la Napoleon/Pius VI, he was not sent into exile as so many true popes were, nor we he even forced to abdicate by some council a la Gregory XII. There is no possible way that his resignation could have been coerced to the point of becoming invalid. No way.
2 Cents , i did find this bit ONLY in the cached version. Apparently the original was removed.

THE SATANIC CONFUSION is so rampant that only God and the Intercession of Our Lady can unravel this mess in His Church, which started with VAT II, as PLANNED by the FREEMASONS whose main goal is the destruction of the Church through its instrumentality by way of OBEDIENCE to the APOSTATE PRELATES down to the UNSUSPECTING faithful. FATIMA and AKITA being revealed slowly but surely.
Who says that the pope has to travel? This is not part of the Petrine ministry
Exactly ! Whats with all the traveling ? Only since the beginning of the 20th century has this exposure of the Holy Father been practiced . Starting with the tv. It’s not normal. Could it be that the devil n his minions have used this to exploite the pope and used it as a tool to take the keys out of the way? It would appear so. You put the man who holds the keys, who fights temptation harder than anyone out in the world and allow the world to influence n attack him, you get a weakening of the pope (humanly speaking) falling into corruption.
Man was not suppose to fly , Almighty God didn’t give us wings we got feet instead.
In 2014, Irish priest and moral theologian Father Vincent Twomey was interviewed on Irish radio. Fr.Twomey is a former pupil of Joseph Ratzinger. Every year all of Ratzinger’s former pupils used gather in Rome to meet their mentor and former teacher.
On being elevated to the papacy, Pope Benedict insisted that the tradition of meeting his former pupils be continued.
Fr.Twomey told Irish radio in 2014, that he had attended 2012 and 2013 reunions in Rome. He said that he had met with Pope Benedict at both reunions.
Fr Twomey said it was clearly evident at 2012 union, that Pope Benedict looked physically exhausted. His demeanour was of a man who looked very tired, very old and burdened.
At 2013, Fr.Twomey said that he was taken aback at the improvement in Benedict’s physical appearance. He said that although he was year old, Benedict’s demeanour and appearance was that of a man liberated. He looked healthier, fitter and he was in far better spirits.
Fr.Twomey said that the contrast between 2012 and 2013 was so apparent, he wondered why Benedict resigned because physically and mentally he appeared in better shape than men who are a decade younger.
Pope Benedict “resigned” in late February 2013.
His reunion were held annually every summer.
