Here we are, just a few days into the Easter season, a time of unparalleled joy, and yet I cannot shake the lingering feeling that something just isn’t right.
This morning it finally dawned on me that the looming prospect of the dual canonizations that are planned for this upcoming Sunday in Rome (May the Good Lord in His mercy forbid them!) is such that it feels like Holy Week all over again, and something tells me I am not alone.
This makes perfect sense when one considers that we are walking through the dark days leading up to an event during which Our Blessed Lord will once again be mocked by the leaders of His people.
“Oh, well,“ the naive, the under-nourished, and the downright stupid say in unison, “The only thing the Church is doing is proclaiming that John XXIII and John Paul II are in Heaven. What harm could possibly come from that?
The answer is it can do plenty of harm, and it most certainly will.
Canonizations are not performed for the benefit of the canonized. They are not some sort of posthumous lifetime achievement award or induction into the Catholic Hall of Fame.
John XXIII and John Paul II have run their race and have already stood before the Just Judge. The harm that they inflicted upon the Mystical Body of Christ has been laid bare before their eyes and Christ has dealt with both of them in perfect mercy and justice. Beyond praying for their souls, the Church Militant can do no more for them.
Yes, being canonized does proclaim one to be in Heaven, but more than that, it holds up for emulation the life of the saint as an example to be followed. As such, the canonizations are truly intended for us, the faithful.
Can you even begin to imagine the outrages that will be committed against Our Blessed Lord and the Holy Catholic faith in years to come thanks to the example of Pope John Paul II?
I can.
You had me going for a quick second. Funny, funny stuff. But, so sad at the same time, because it’s entirely possible.
I was very good friends with Pope John Paul II’s best friend, Gustaaf Cardinal Joos. Over many months of weekly talks (over port!) not one word about the Pope’s sanctity. Something is very wrong here.
Needless to say, John XXIII is no saint as he unleashed the whirlwind.
Conciliar Community, not “Catholic Church”! Get with it! Update!
Dear Louie,
You are not alone…….this is truly a Holy Week for faithful Catholics. These fast-track canonizations are coming to it’s fruition…….. only to canonize Vatican II ‘errors’…… the Modernists and Progressivists ……..God in His Wisdom, let’s the fools (for a little while yet)……… be merry and happy, for their own destruction……Miserere!
The establishment of Novus Ordo is proud as a ‘peacock’……….they feel the world will respect them more now……..FOOLS!…….Ave Maria!
It is very worth to repeat again…….’
…………….The very best pope……..John Paul II………. the enemies of the holy Faith ever had!……..Miserere!
Saying all this, we must never forget……. GOD IS IN CONTROL, HE KNOWS HIS ENEMY BY NAME…….THANKS BE TO GOD! GOD WILL NOT BE MOCKED!
EVEN THE DEMONS TREMBLE………MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON THEIR FOLLOWERS!
May the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary deign to protect us all, and may her triumph soon come!
Our Lady of Fatima, ora pro nobis!
So, Louie. I agree with all of the above. My questions for you are:
1) Do you accept the fact that fact these canonizations (if they actually happen) will lead the faithful into the wrong direction? (It looks like you do; that’s this post about.)
2) Do you accept the fact the canonizations are infallible, so they can’t mislead the faithful? (Which is the overwhelming opinion among theologians.)
3) If you accept both 1) and 2), then how can you resolve this contradiction? (Assuming that God does not resolve it in a very direct way withing the next 4 days.)
Personally, the only way I see to resolve this is to conclude that Francis is not the Pope (and as an extension, the Conciliar Church is not the Catholic Church), because if he were, then he could not do this.
Do you see any other way out? I am asking this sincerely.
Gotta admit. This post made me chuckle.
Pope John Paul II was the patron saint of serial child-molestation facilitators such as Fr. Marcial Maciel Degollado, Bishop Skylstad, Cardinal Law and Cardinal Mahony and thousands of others like them. Many of the most unconscionable waves of horrendous victimization of defenseless children occurred on his watch.
Pope John Paul II permitted these molestations to be shrouded in secrecy. He granted safe haven to fugitive molestation facilitators such as the notorious Cardinal Bernard Law who was wanted in Boston by the authorities and rewarded by Pope John Paul with being named archpriest of a prominent basilica in Rome.
…….this scandal (among so many) is enough to make your blood boil…….Miserere!
Ganganelli, please be careful and do not choke on your chuckle.
You are riding on a ‘high horse’, with the proud and wicked Pharisees.
May God knock you down off your high horse, and may the scales fall off your blind eyes……..May He make you a saint!……..or else!……Miserere!
erucolindor, you are badly mistaken that canonization being infallible – the new process – is the “overwhelming opinion among theologians”.
–
And so collapses your implicit argument.

Ganganelli, with such comments you make it perfectly clear that you’re nothing more than a troll here.
Dear Louie and friends,
You are not alone. From the time our young family began-just before John Paul II was elected, until now, we have shared in the ever increasing agony of the True followers of Christ. Every year we were more and more abandoned by our leaders in the Faith, persecuted by our fellow “Catholics” , and scandalized by things the Pope reportedly did–like reverently kissing the Koran, telling a Satanist Voodoo high priest that “the seeds of the Faith are in the Voodoo religion”, (after which the government of Benin formally recognized Voodoo as a religion, and its adherents doubled), and his allowing a Budhist statue to be place on the empty tabernacle in Assisi. The fruits of all these “ecumenical” efforts became the greatest sorrow of our lives. So many families–even home schooled ones, are broken apart by children seduced by the false Church of darkness, which has emerged from the one we knew as youngsters. And confusion reigns as the Church dwindles down to those of us who still see clearly the nightmare coming to a peak.
No Louie, you are definitely not alone in feeling the Passion being played out during this Easter season of joy
But remember Our Lady of Fatima’s words and actions, reminding the Church and the world that Hell exists, and many souls are lost–having no one to pray for them. Having merited Hell by their unrepented sins, they need the public prayers of the Church-which used to be part of the most common Mass and Holy Week services–for the conversion of sinners and pagans and Jews and Moslems etc. How shocked we were to see the subtle erasure year after year, of the duty of the Church to do as Christ mandated…go and teach all nations, baptizing in the name of the Trinity, teaching them to observe all that He commanded.
Jesus feels it with us. Mary begged for our prayers and sacrifices, and our trust. IN THE END Her heart is going to triumph.
So even if we are few, let us be the ones to heed Her wishes, make the First Saturdays, wear the Scapular, teach the truth, pray, and make every day a sacrifice. God be with us to cheer our hearts with hope in this Easter Season, as we trust that the torment of this fiasco in Rome is part of what God is allowing in order to save the most souls possible. May He give us courage never to remain silent whenever we have the chance to speak out where truth is reversed and mistaught Amen.
Thank you Louie for all you do.
Indignus, I , too, began my family during the reign of JPII. That is one of the reasons we soon began an affiliation with the SSPX. The internet has made the errors and scandal more rapidly and thoroughly visible—on a daily basis if we choose to check. Fortunately it has also allowed a community of Catholics to support one another; there is strength in knowing we are not alone!
On the canonizations, I have read opinions from both sides and expert commentary as well. I do not feel bad to acknowledge that the topic is ‘above my pay scale’ and that I will prayerfully suspend judgment, perhaps indefinitely. That doesn’t mean I will withhold my opinion: it should be obvious to anyone watching that the two candidates are far from what the Church has always held up as saint material. There is no reason for hurried canonizations except for the political.
God bless all here, and a continued happy Easter!
Not so long ago (for God one day is like thousand years)…..the Lord asked Cain “Where is thy brother Abel?” And Cain answered…..”Am I my brother’s keeper?”
Yes, all Catholics are called to be their brother’s keepers, bound by our holy Faith to care for the souls of others…..exposing and calling ‘error’, ‘evil’, ‘heresy’ by it’s name. All for the Glory of God, for the Glory of the holy Church, for the Glory of Saving Souls!
Will these canonizations lead THE FAITHFUL into the wrong direction…….NO! Regardless of the monstrosity of the post-conciliar storm — the Catholic Church and the faithful Catholics will never become a wreck…….. with God’s help, and fearless faith, the true soldiers of Christ will never panic, nor will they lose hope or become discouraged, like so many lukewarm and ignorant, who have accepted the Lutheran innovations as ‘Catholic’, or, who have left the holy Church for the Protestant sects……Miserere!
Today, I read some comments on the blogs from Poland, regarding the coming canonizations of the ‘blessed and the great’……..most popular comment was…….”Karol Wojtyła, the Jewish saint”……..!
Our Lady of Fatima, ora pro nobis!
agree. The nearest Saturday mass is hundreds of miles away. But then mass seems little more than a protestant Sunday School these days. My priest spent about half an hour recently instructing us on different prayers we could say on the ‘rosary’ (all new age tripe); how we could make our own beads with as many or as little as we liked; he also managed to squeeze in another plug for the sainthood of nelson mandela which seems to be an obsession with the clergy in my part of the world. I haven’ met face to face a single other Catholic who finds anything scandalous about these proposed ‘canonizations’. They either have no Catholic conscience or, well, that’s really it.
–
the novus ordo mass is a travesty, just like the prelates who created it. I keep hoping the Frankie is playing some sort of double-agent game and will nix the proposed canonizations at the last minute (probably blame it on the money). Happily as A Catholic Thinker mentioned above, canonizations are no longer infallible.
–
p.s. it’s good to have your imput again, Halina.
The Church is full of mangled things and “sexts” and spying eyes
And dead is all the innocence by Maciel, no surprise,
And Christian killeth Christian with their liturgy dance tunes,
And Christian dreadeth Truth when it interrupts crones’ croons,
“And Christian hateth Mary that God kissed in Galilee”,
But John Paul the Second, Great, will be Sainted by the See!

(with apologies to G.K. Chesterton, the really GREAT!)
Apparently there’s a cause for G.Ks sainthood stirring. That’d be a fine thing. But then now that JPII’s saint factory and Frankie’s pot-shot sainthoods are par for the course the infallibilty of the listed membership of Heaven is a thing of the past – as in pre-VII.
Not being a theologian I also have been torn reading different interpretations of whether or not these canonizations are infallible and to be accepted. I don’t have the expertise to understand many of the questions being raised. If we look into the absolute truth of these papacies neither one could be described as not being problematic in one way or another. Both popes might have been holy in some re-guards but did damage in other ways. One of the main questions I think we all need to acknowledge is that would God allow this to take place if these men are NOT in heaven. God will not be mocked. I can’t see him allowing lies to take place. We certainly must pray for their souls and the restoration of the Church.
At this rate we really are going to have a “one world religion”. I shall be astonished if we don’t have a lesbian Pope very soon. This NuChurch stuff is only as “definitive” as later Popes allow it to be: Catholicism has no stable content these days – it can’t, because (we now learn) Catholics & Lutherans belong to the same Church. Such a Church cannot be infallible, for infallibility presupposes that doctrine does not change meaning. The Church is not Catholic or One or Apostolic or Holy, if it is Lutheran as well as Catholic. But that is what we are – apparently – expected to believe: that Lutherans and Catholics are members of the same Church.
“Koch noted that “All the doctrinal decisions of the church are binding on a Catholic, including the Second Vatican Council and all its texts”, Koch said when asked if the SSPX would be expected to accept all the teachings of Vatican II. “The Nostra Aetate declaration of the Second Vatican Council is a clear decree and is important for every Catholic”, he added.”
## To that I say, “Nuts !” These men vomit on the Faith, but expect Catholics to care a tinker’s curse for the garbage they put in its place. It really is difficult not to hate these people – they are making a mess of the convictions in the souls of millions; they are so shallow & worldly themselves that they cannot imagine that anyone could possibly take the contents of the Faith as what those contents have traditionally been alleged to be. What other explanation – given that they are supposed to be Catholic cardinals – is possible ?
It is not a matter of obedience toward these New Vandals, but a matter of possibility: it is *not possible* for a Catholic to shrug off as “erroneous” or “irrelevant” or “not groovy, man” or “not sufficiently ecumenical” or “not attractive to Modern Man” doctrines that the Teaching Church has, speaking with the full weight of her authority, defined as truths revealed by God. So if post-V2 Popes like Paul VI, JP2 or Francis say otherwise, they are destroying the only authority that gives them any right to tell others what to believe.
Heh, heh. Well put, Jimmy. Perhaps ‘after ellen’ becomes pope we could then have an orangutan. It would certainly be more entertaining.
–
here’s an interesting debate that took place back in 2004 from the NO watch site (don’t shout me down against the SVs – remember VII and certainly Frankie has abolished schism and heresy and, indeed, the need for the Church of Christ for salvation). I wonder if Dr. Fastiggi would dare to hold the negative now.

heh, heh, heh, very good my dear Salvemur. One Ave please?
———-
For elderly Catholics like myself who now find it necessary to refer to ourselves as “traditionalists,” the situation is compounded by a devastating sort of lament for the youth, many of whom expressed yourselves in above comments.
———-
Not to engage in false sentimentality nor present my thought as attachment to the nostalgia of a creed-reciting parrot, before the troll accuses me of such; sometimes I just wish I could take one of you back to any {yes, any,} Catholic parish pre-1950–so you could dwell there 48 hours,—-
for nourishment.
—–
As most of you know, I’m a convert raised Lutheran–but had the witness of a Catholic father who died young. When I decided t convert in order to raise all of my children with the assistance of Holy Mary after abandonment, —the Mass, the teaching, the doctrine seemed to have disappeared. This loss was no less devastating to me than the death of my second child. I still haven’t gotten over it.
———
You see, I had not known what had happened since I was not Catholic. I thought I was returning to all the profound nature of the Faith, the Mass –that my father had introduced me to in the late 1940’s. Little did I know.
——
Please forgive–I know I am among friends, that’s all.
Peace be to you.
a few Aves, de Maria; it’s rare that a Catholic expects an Ave on the rosary (or indeed a rosary) these, days! God Bless.
Pope Francis is quoted as saying: “If one has the answers to all the questions – that is the proof that God is not with him. It means that he is a false prophet using religion for himself. The great leaders of the people of God, like Moses, have always left room for doubt. You must leave room for the Lord, not for our certainties; we must be humble.”
Which doubts should we have? Perhaps the doubt of the infallibility of these approaching canonisations?
Maybe Pope Francis has the same doubts or maybe he is certain but what he is certain of, I am not sure.
Is he?
“God will not be mocked. I can’t see him allowing lies to take place”
–
Not so. God does allow lies to take place to punish the wicked for having not the love of truth.
–
“they [the reprobate] receive not THE LOVE OF THE TRUTH, that they might be saved. Therefore GOD SHALL SEND THEM the operation of error, to BELIEVE LYING: That all may be judged who have not believed the truth, but have consented to iniquity.”
2 Thessalonians 2:10-11

Thank you for sharing your experiences with your Friends here on the blog, people of my generation (I am probably around 50 years younger than yourself) have no clue what it was like being a catholic back in the glory days of Pius XII’s pontificate… Your experience must have been incredibly shocking coming back to the faith during the dark post-conciliar days after having lived through Lutheranism, no doubt like Mary Magdalen weeping outside the tomb, saying “They have taken my Lord and I know not where they have put him.” You must have asked, “Where is THE Church?? What happened to my beloved Church??”
–
But then the Lord appears; Mary Magdelen not recognizing Him said, “Lord, if you have taken him away, tell me where He is and I will take Him.”
–
And then the Lord said, “Mary!” and Mary said “Lord!”
–
Maybe one day from the Heavenly abode you will be able to pray for those still remaining in this valley of tears fighting for the Church Militant under the leadership of Christ the King : )

God Bless
de Maria,
beautiful, beautiful, BEAUTIFUL sentiments, beautifully stated. 53 Aves for you and your family today on my Rosary.
Sorry for the off-topic insert here, but now we are “bat-like” Christians. Here are more profound theological statements from the bishop of Rome: http://en.radiovaticana.va/news/2014/04/24/pope_francis:_there_are_%E2%80%9Cbat-like_christians%E2%80%9D_who_prefer_the_shadows/en1-793448
Thanks for the link FrA. – “Like bats. And with a little sense of humour we can say that there are Christian bats who prefer the shadows to the light of the presence of the Lord.”
–
on second thoughts, maybe an orangutan wouldn’t be more amusing than Frankie – this is lol stuff. God bless. Now I must retire to my rafter and curl my batty melancholy wingedness about my Christian existential touristness gloom…nya ah ahhhhhhh!
p.s. I should say ‘wil do!’
It’s mainly trads who are rightfully raising the alarm about Pope Francis and his modernist agenda. But I saw an article on Catholic Culture where Cardinal Maradiaga of Honduras (who is a big fan of Pope Francis) stated that there are those in the Curia who are opposed to the Pope. He even said that a well-known Cardinal (in the Curia, I assume) let slip the phrase…’We made a mistake.” I think he means that they made a mistake in electing Cardinal Bergolio. So I think that there are mainstream Catholics who waking up to the reality of the terrible situation with the current Pontiff. And if Francis changes (or tries to change) doctrine regarding divorced Catholics receiving communion, then I expect that he’ll have even more opposition. It will likely create a huge division among Cardinals, and bishops. Here’s the Catholic culture article:
http://www.catholicculture.org/news/headlines/index.cfm?storyid=21195
FrA,
Thanks for the link. I really did have a good laugh reading the latest buffonery from the Bishop of Rome (honestly I couldn’t help myself – his comments just seemed so puerile almost to the point of being cute) – I guess evil can be used to achieve a greater good after all ; )
–
Is the Bishop of Rome suffering from PTSD? How many hours a day does he spend lamenting about those bat like Christians, creed reciting parrots, mournful mummies or whatever else disparaging terms he has concocted?
Louie
Who is Dr. Faith Niente who will speak about evolution. I come up with nothing with google search?
Thanks
TomV
Would very much like to believe it Denise, but Maradiega is a snake. If he said the sun is still in the sky, I would have to walk outside to make sure.
Hey Tom,
Forgive me for not making it more obvious, but this is a parody… what I “imagine* to be the kind of offenses we can expect against Christ and the Church after the example of a St. JPII. (BTW – Niente in Italian means “nothing.”)
Louie, what do you think of the following scenario?
A man who (reportedly) lived in a street named after John XXIII who was crushed by a crucifix dedicated to John Paul II.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/italy/10786410/Man-crushed-to-death-by-giant-crucifix-dedicated-to-Pope.html
…and another irony regarding these two popes: the 1st claimed the Fatima prophecy was not about his pontificate & sealed it up, and the second thought it might pertain to him, yet neither would consecrate RUSSIA as requested, and as they’re about to be canonized Russia is in position to instigate a 3rd world war, and the US sent boots on the ground to Poland.
Beautiful post.
Once again:

blimey. not something to be taken lightly, I would say. poor guy, Lord have mercy on him.
Wait. Russia didn’t “instigate” anything in Ukraine. It is the Americans who pumped 5 billion dollars these last few years in Ukraine (in the very own words of assistant secretary of state Victoria Nuland) to foment “regime change” and install the Washington appointed puppet government after the February revolution.
–
Russia is merely defending its national interests, much like any other nation on earth that still retains self-respect and true national sovereignty would do.
The coming canonizations, as far as I’m concerned, aren’t legitimate. There was no devil’s advocate to present the opposing view of either man’s worthiness to be canonized. It seems the big qualifier for canonization under VII rules is they were sooo personally holy. But ignore the bad stuff like the cover ups of priestly pederasty, the financial corruption, the Koran kissing, the sucking up to the Jews, and the Assisi ecumenical love fests. We’re judging their personal holiness, not the pontifical reign! Question: how can you separate them? You can’t! Logic demands that they have to be judged together. But logic has gone out the window in canonizations, it’s this personal holiness crap and the warm fuzzies that count now. Well, if these canonizations go through, the Church is going to learn that personal holiness must be followed up by holy actions, IOW, faith without works is dead.
Yep, Roncalli and Wojtyła both entertained the world’s biggest nasties on the pew-punters dollar; enemy of the Church, come on in and we’ll make a public apology for ever protecting the sheep from all you wolves! and now they have scheduled Paul the unadulterated ruinator of that which VII wasn’t able in itself to pervert, for an autumnal altar rise.
p.s. in 1970 Viktor Frankl had an audience with Paul VI – Frankl described montini as a haunted looking fellow, even then. Apparently, according to Frankl, when the audience was over, Paul VI called out to him, ‘pray for me’! So, the Pope of the Holy Catholic Church cries out for the prayers of non-Christians. The Church has been overseen for far too long now by utter miserable apostates.
“Perhaps ‘after ellen’ becomes pope we could then have an orangutan. It would certainly be more entertaining.”
.
## Or a teddy bear. Or even a real lump pf rock. Or maybe – Pope Barbie. Although she’s been an astronaut, I don’t think she’s ever been Pope. Pope Smurfette ? We see to have had a Gargamel or two…
Forgot to add: J23 & JP2 have now been canonised.
.
“now they have scheduled Paul the unadulterated ruinator of that which VII wasn’t able in itself to pervert, for an autumnal altar rise.”

## Here’s hoping not.
