Father Gruner was scheduled to speak at a 44th anniversary of the Bayside “apparitions” last June. Did that actually happen? It was sponsored by St.Michael’s World Apostolate.November 23, 2014 at 7:51 am #5348
I would have to hear it from his lips before I would believe this.

That’s why I asked. I saw the pre-event announcement on-line and an alert from the diocese.December 2, 2014 at 2:29 pm #5386December 2, 2014 at 5:58 pm #5387
Thank you. Was Father Gruner duped into attending this? He spoke briefly during the 3 hour “vigil” and was scheduled to speak the next day. Does anyone have any more information?December 3, 2014 at 8:18 pm #5388
I inquired: Father was invited, spoke of the message of Fatima, and uses every opportunity to do so when asked or invited.December 3, 2014 at 8:18 pm #5389
Sorry, Ruby. I know nothing about Fr Gruner and his relationship to the Bayside phenomenon.December 3, 2014 at 11:01 pm #5390
Thanks again, Lynda. Before your link I could find nothing. He indeed was there as guest speaker, but as I indicated above, only to get the Fatima message out. But I think it could confuse many, many Catholics.December 4, 2014 at 5:56 am #5391
I had never looked into Bayside because of various negative statements by Church authorities. But, the speaker, Mr Mangan, said at that June anniversary event that there never was a formal investigation, following the necessary procedures demanded by natural justice, and the Church’s regulations.December 4, 2014 at 3:42 pm #5412
From “Message of June 18, 1986,” titled, ironically, “Third Secret of Fatima:”
“O My children, you do not understand what I have given to other seers upon earth to bring to you: not only words of consolation, but words of truth. The truth sometimes does hurt, My children; but I, as your Mother, must treat you at this time as adults, being able to reason with the God-given reasoning that Heaven gave unto you when you were conceived by the Holy Ghost.”

Sorry we didn’t get into this discussion earlier–we hadn’t had time to check the forums of late. Our research on earlier posts on Louie’s blogs came up with this:
Bayside failed before the year 2001, as in June 18,1988 it foretold, among a number of other errors:
‘Look up, and see what lies beyond your windows: a Ball that is fast hurtling towards earth! It will be here within this century, if not sooner.’ For even the scientists have failed to recognize the speed of this Ball.”
Bishop Mugavero – on November 4, 1986, officially declared it lacking in authenticity. ..1. No credibility can be given to the so-called “apparitions” … 2. The “messages” and other related propaganda contain statements which, among other things, are contrary to the teachings of the Catholic Church…
-His successor Bishop DiMarzio concurred: I write in order to dissipate lingering doubts–of the Diocese of Brooklyn and the judgment of Bishop Francis J. Mugavero..” –This judgment has been maintained over the course of three decades… the alleged visions contain serious theological errors and contradict both Sacred Scripture.. including: the nature and identity of Christ, the identity and role of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Grace,….
Bishop DiMarzio was reported as blasting the New York legislature when it voted in favor of gay-marriage, and lead an over 2 mile street procession on Good Friday, etc.- indications of Faithful leadership.. Not certainty, but more reason to question the judgment of those who still support these apparitions.
This is not the first time Father Gruner has associated himself with a false apparition, as we noted his mentioning and promotion of Garabandal, which also was proven false when Joey Lomangino died-recently, still blind.
For about 40 years we’ve been following Father’s every move, and benefitting greatly from his teachings on the Faith. We have come to question his judgment on things which require trusting people over the years. He is so intent on getting the Fatima message out, that he seems to fall prey to sincere-sounding people who support his ideas, from time to time, but fail to live up to that trust. One priest he once featured in his magazine as a well-known exorcist who denounced many in the Vatican as Masons, got married a few weeks later by the Rev. Sun Yung moon (not sure of that spelling). Apparently going rather crazy. We attributed it to the Devil at the time, and the priest later recanted and rejoined the Church.
We aren’t trying to discredit Father Gruner, whom we love dearly and respect as a teacher of the Faith. We are just cautioning everyone with what we know that seems questionable about his actions over the years.
The audio link Lynda provided above, seems to verify his participation in the Bayside anniversary activities. We see this as gravely scandalous, even if all he was doing was promoting Fatima’s messages, because he mentions the Bayside teachings in his talk, as if he believes them, and links them to credible witnesses he has known, who confirm some of the points they make. This is dangerous to souls, and seems very wrong to us
And the more we’ve researched Bayside, the more dangerous, harmful and false it seems to us.
It also gets into promoting false religions as not in need of conversion.
